Silbersee, you must be right, after all you have had one breed and I have only seen it on maybe a dozen or so different breeds.  I know the Great Danes that I have seen them on were from over exertion and certainly the English Mastiffs must have been from jumping off of the walls.

I rest my case Einstein, now I'm going back to sleep.

doggleggs are not the answer and may not help at all. Hopefully, this is just an injury from a bump and it will heal without complications. Without getting an exam done, the OP won't know for sure what is going on. So a trip to the vet is probably best.

Phil Behun,
you are a true a...! Why do we have to argue with what it is without seeing it or having a vet look at it. Just like Hodie said it could just be a bump! It was not a hygroma with my girl, it was an injury and it went away after it was drained. She was on antibiotics the whole time the drains were in to prevent infection and was only allowed outside just for doing her business and then straigt back into the crate of the house.
And why aren't you man enough and apologize for your rude post towards me? It would be the right thing to do. I have never addressed you at all,  just came on here and offered my opinion to the OP because I had a dog in the past with the same problem or it sounded like that. Instead, I get chewed out for not reading your post correctly. And you know I am right when I pointed out the OP's second post which you apparantly had overlooked. Frankly, there I come from it is called troll like behavior. But... I took the time and looked at some of your past responses and saw that I was not the only recipient of your irrate tandrums.
Looking at your website, I see that you run a business or you are trying to. Not a good idea to piss people off here. Gives you a bad rep.
Have a good evening (oh I forgot you went to sleep already).

Not saying dogleggs are the answer.  Just giving an idea why hygromas occur.  Also not saying without seeing this dog's elbow that it is in fact a hygroma.  It was a suggestion in response to a question.  As far as Silbersee's snappy retorts, my only comment involving you is in response to your statement that "The crate has nothing to do with it".  It is very possible that it could have,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,that's all.

She does sleep in crate with a blanket and she has a large soft pillow in the living room. We spend  alot of time with her, and noticed it a few hours after she jmbed and hit the edge of the table. If it is Hygroma, how long would it have taken to develop. There was not anything there prior to the incident. The ball feels like jelly. Since it's not cut and she isn't in any pain I will wait a couple of weeks to see what happens. I really appreciate everyone's comments.

I talked to the breeder that we purchased the dog from.  She bacically said the same thing about letting it rest on a soft surface , and it should go down. She also gave me this number to call. I called and actually was able to talk to a vet. He said to wait a few days and start putting some Toger Balm on it to generate heat and get the blood flowing. If it doesn't  go away in a couple weeks, then I should take her to a vet. I want to share the number with all of you, because I found it very helpful.

It's been a week and the lump seems to be harder. How long should I wait until I take her to the vet.

Has the size of the lump changed at all? If you see no improvement, I would consider taking the dog to the vet to let them have a look. It may just be a hematoma and need more time to resolve, but you want to know what really is going on to make sure you don't miss some treatment window.
