.Vet Says Midnight is doing well she looks very good..Today is day 56 I am so excited. Midnight still eating when she wants but no loss of appetite quite yet..
.So we got to see Xrays and seen a bunch of squeezed up skeletons & Spinal Cord. They looked pretty big and healthy in there all spinals looked nice..The Vet counted 6 but me and other breeder counted 7 so she won't have a problem of milk share due to she has 10 nipples so that is good...Other than that she will be due anyday after Monday...Also I asked the Vet about Dew Claws being removed...He said the only thing about not removing dew claws is for dogs that our in shows its a flaw.
. So I don't know if they should be removed or not..Some people do and some people don't...German Shepherd Lover..

I didn't see a single dew claw on any of mine.

For certain conformation shows (AKC-type, not SV-type) the trend is to remove the dewclaws, and you see it in certain hunting breeds that go bounding through dence scrub on the theory that it prevents them from injuring their dewclaws.
I've heard that a dog who has its dewclaws removed will be penalized under SV rules, but I've never known a GSD without dewclaws, so I honestly don't know about that.
My exception for leaving them alone are rear dewclaws, but only if they're loosely attached, or if there's a dewclaw on one foot but bot on the other. Got to have those feet match *lol*. That's my workinglines. As of yet, I've never had a showline with rear dewclaws, and I might have those removed for the sake of conformation. I don't know, I'll deal with that when it comes up *grin*

I hope I understand correctly that you're asking if the rear dewclaws should be removed if present, though I haven't seen a GSD yet that had rear dews...
