we have found at work that you can use Dr. Scholls(sp) shoe inserts and the glue we use is hair extension glue (get it a Sally's beauty salon). We use it on ear crops, after the stitches come out,and I was told about it from a English Bulldog breeder.
Steps-- Clean inside of ear with alcohol let dry, cut form to ear size, spread glue over form and then place it in the ear, hold in place for 1-2 min. till dry,It will stay in ear for about 2-3 weeks or until you take it out. it may bother the dog for 1-2 days but after that they will leave it lone.
this works for us at work
hope it helps

That's not a prong collar; it's a fursaver.

I think MaxBear is talking about the 2nd photo, that's a prong.

I HAVE AN EAR QUESTION-- I have a GSD here whose ears are straight (tips not turning down), but one flops over to the side on top of his head.  He is 4.5 months.  Should I tape them now, or wait?  He has all his new teeth except the canines.

Speaking of ears not standing up?

Their is one german shepherd I know, @ 7 months his ears was completely up, but one of his ears, the base of the ear was weak; queation? will it ever get firm as the dog matures ?????

by Jyotisdad on 06 May 2010 - 07:05

Ears like all beauty are in the eyes of the beholder.

My two dogs, Whisky, Jyoti and Jyoti, (The dog joyti is the one on the right) The ears are not an issue with me, however I know that most would like to see the GSD ears errect.

If you are not going to show or breed the dog, does it really matter?

What does matter however is , how much you actually love your dog.

no the ears are not up, but  it does not matter to me. It is one of those things nice have if you can but no problem if I don't

His left ear stays up 90% of the time now and his right ear comes up sometimes. its been coming up more a often. They both tend stay up when we are playing ball in the back yard or when he is playing at the dog park or during  walks.

My friend got 3 months old GSD and its ears up all the time. Comparing to his, my dog had larger head, bigger ears and very soft ears. So I am not doing anything more.

I have had other breed of dogs but he is more communicative than any of my other ones. I LOVE HIM.

the photos show him with a prong collar. All the photos were taken right before or after an activity. He does not have  the prong collar all the time. Thanks for not  jumping the gun  and shredding me to bits on that.

Wouldn't have jumped the gun on you....just wanted to insure you were aware of the dangers, leaving it turned prong in....and forgetting about it. Was just a friendly reminder...... Other's here are quick to jump the gun and forget God gave them 2 ears...and two eyes...and only One mouth for a reason....they should use those other sense's before they Leap...Hope you and the Pup continue on a great relationship.....Good Luck!
