I am 35 my past ms-gs mite of made me look younger cause i was rushing and i cant spell real well and the things i was asking i see how they could be misinterpreted but i am taking my time with these ms-gs from now on. Yes my answer too mickey D is thanks for your reply first. . You said it is normal for my dog too bark and defend my property, when he is alone but i am starting too think and i do not know for shore yet, is that my dog only is protective and barks when i am home, i have been told by the post man that he does not even bark at him when no one is home, but when some one is home he is in full guard and is a completely diff rant dog. The post man cant believe how much of a diff rant dog he is and another time there was no one home a person i know come to my house and my dog licked him on the hand thru the fence not barking like he does at all and my dog has never seen him before my mum was staying here for a while and he use too guard and defend the property when she was home and i was not so its very strange he only defends and does not let any one come near the property only if there is some one home its like soon as i have him on the lead and take him out my gate to walk he is a pretty friendly dog not trying to attack and people even pat him and has only barked and went to attack when i was walking past the pub and a girl i know stopped me too talk and another bloke i know walked towards us with a pool Cue in his hand and that set him off and another is when i had him tied out the front of the shop real fast like i do to buy a drink on our usual walk and i herd my dog make a short bark like he was going too bite some one but it was a stranger man who went to pat him and my dog just give him a scare i think just too make shore the bloke keep ed his distance. but when home when some one is home with him he is completely unapproachable i have a fenced in yard that covers my whole house so he can not bite no one i know he has had some real good training cause if my gate is wide open and i am home or not he does not leave the yard and I'm talking double gate that i drive my car thru he did not leave the yard and another thing he does is every time i fill his water bucket up he dips his front foot in it before he will drink it some one told me once when i asked that he dips his foot in the water too make shore the water is cold cause apparently if he drank warm water it wood stuff his sniffing sense's that he could not smell a intruder if needs be and that he has been trained too do it is there any truth to what he is saying

Not leaving the yard most likely means he has a good bond with you...it is certainly not PROOF he has REAL GOOD training. My dogs do that and they have not been "trained" to.
The water bowl thing...sorry but that is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard.
I will share with you an example of what is "real good training"

The first thing you should do is educate yourself about the breed and dogs in general. GSDs and other herding dogs are very aware of boundaries. Even without being trained to stay in the yard, most GSDs (particularly happy ones) will stay within the confines of the yard with or without a fence. This is not to say you should ever leave the dog in an unfenced area when you are not present. I am simply pointing out the nature of herding dogs. As someone else mentioned, a bond with their human(s) is also a factor.
Next up is training. Regardless of how well trained he was before, you are running a risk by not keeping up with that training now. Proper training is an ongoing lifetime process and not something that can be started and finished within 6 weeks as many people seem to believe. Many dogs will stop responding to commands not to mention the issues of dominance that may creep up if the dog feels that you are not a proper leader.
As far as aggression goes, simply keep it under control and correct him when it is inappropriate. As someone already mentioned, you don't need to train a GSD to be protective as they are already protective by nature. My girl is a certified therapy dog but god help you if you come onto my property uninvited and she is loose.
