The pedigrees of the dogs whether police or schutzhund are the same...most likely! So we can throw that out! You have to evaluate each prospect as all dogs are not the same. A litter of ten might produce 4-5 or none! Your choice should be made by visiting the sire and dam and having them evaluaed...even then...pups are a crap shoot!
That Wildhaus litter sounds nice.....pedigree wise! I've heard and read good things about Hannes. Plus, his owner Suzanne is as ethical as they come!

Mike D,

This is an exerpt from the Wildhaus site on Hannes' sire line;

.....well known BSP competitor Quax von der Fasanerie, has sired multiple LGA, BSP and WUSV competitors, and his dam, Wicki, is from the exceptional W litter vd Wanner Höhen, a litter where all dogs have proven themselves both as competitors and producers. Not only are Hannes' sire lines exceptionally strong, containing such outstanding competitors and producers as Boy Pendel Bach, WUSV Champion Fado Karthago, Ork Wolfendobel, Fax vom Haus Bernhart-Mader and Troll Körbelbach.

smith, I agree with judron55....good paper (pedigree) is a good place to start, but it always comes down to the accessing the pup, which can be a crap shoot.  Law enforcement, and serious sport competitors usually start with a more mature dog to eliminates the guess work.  But then again, those poor professionals miss the joy of raising and bonding with a pup....I wouldn't trade that for anything.

Karthago Kennels produces a lot of police dogs.

I on the other hand like smaller breeders. I like the ones that go and do something with their males/females (above Andy Maly Vah) handled by a female, trained in sport and can do the job of a streed dog...

I like that a lot. Just because a dog has a "big Kennel" name does not guarantee the Street potential. Nothing guarantees that but a person who does it all... Or at least tries to do it all... My favorite is Building searches and (environmental bites) . Really shows the dogs "thinking, and abilities".

I would try Andy's puppy out of curiosity since I have never seen his ofspring but I like what I see in the sire. (of Course also the mother needs to  be considered)

I have an Andy pup, Gideon v Wildhaus and he is progressing well at 9 months. Very agile and good drive, not hectic or extreme for one so young,  no fear of anything, compliant,  a nice balance.  Prelim hip/elbow  x-rays look great, too!

Insert sarcastic whinny voice here: "I have an Andy pup, Gideon v Wildhaus and he is progressing well at 9 months. Very agile and good drive, not hectic or extreme for one so young, no fear of anything, compliant, a nice balance. Prelim hip/elbow x-rays look great, too!"

That should be my dog lady!!!!!!  Gideon is an amazing specimen of the breed and I am totally green with envy!
