ICRanger, that business of giving Heartgard once a week instead of getting proper dosages seems pretty slipshod. I'd be getting the dose that wouldn't kill my dog but WOULD kill the scabies. All in all, Ivermectin in dogs that old is a bit of a tightrope.

So sorry YOU are itching too! Major bummer.

JC,do yourself and this senior dog a favour and get him to a Vet.Hodie has given you the most to the point and straight up advice that anyone could give you and I assure you that she has your dogs best interest at heart.I went through this and can tell you that sarcoptic mange is not easy to detect even when a scrapping is done but there is a pinna reflex ear test  the Vet can do that kind of gives you an idea. You can then go the Revolution route OR the Ivermectin depending on what your Vet thinks is best for an older dog. Also it is NOT a real expensive treatment.Good luck
