"You don't have $275? I sure hope you don't need to spend any money on this dog once you get it........"
I'm sorry NO I don't have the money, until tomorrow when both my husband and I get paid.... That was pretty rude of you. In case you need to know why, I am low on funds, I had emergency sugery and I had to pay a huge amount in cash the other day towards my insurance deductable. Which really is none of your business.
I apologize to you for not skipping the surgery.
And if I do for some reason have to spend money on her when she gets here I can borrow it if I have to. The same as if there was an emergency with one of my children. Unreal.

Well happy to say that everything went very, very well at Customs. Even though her flight was scheduled to come in after the office closed, the guy I spoke to (LAS Customs) was awesome! He gave me an after hours number to call and said that someone would be there and would help us out. He was true to his word, and sure enough they were there when they said they would be. My puppy is home now and tearing through my house like a wild child.
Thanks to everyone who helped me out in getting through this!

i have the same problem with time from frankfurt to detroit and mnpls. customs at mnpls is always closed by the time the puppies arrive. i have tried having all paperwork faxed in advance and that does work, but the last time i asked mnpls customs to have detroit clear the puppy there since it was the first point of entry and was earlier in the day. that worked really slick, so as soon as the pup landed in mnpls i was able to take her because everything was already done. it seemed that the only thing they cared about was that the dog was for me and not for resale.

Stacy,
as I do know that there were changes made in the process of importing a dog/pup into the US, I am not sure about what exactly was changed.
But, I can tell you how it worked when I shipped a pup to Las Vegas last year. I had close contact to the buyer and I led him thru the process. It was basicly said from the getgo that the pup would have to be cleared at port of entry, Detroit,MI. They also tried to tell us that this could only be done trough a broker, as customs would not do it, they also told us that the pup would not be able to continue his yourney to Las Vegas. So I called customs at Las Vegas, and low and behold, they were very helpfull. They required all paperwork to be send to them and then they would clear the pup in Las Vegas, and then in return tell Detroit that everything is in order. So I did send the paperwork in Copie to the buyer ( Pedigree, certificate of health, Vaccination booklet, flight info ), who took everything to customs in Las Vegas. They did as promised, but of course we checked with Detroit if they recieved the paperwork. A mayor point is to write down any names you talked to, very important, as you now can present a person, if it comes to problems.
It was not a problem at all, Drago vom Sankt Martiner Tal arrived in Detroit, and continued his flight to Las Vegas in no time.
But one should really do all this at least a week before the flight, so that there is enough time to get everything done.
But I agree with mobjack, bad things can happen any time, and I for my part, am always nervous after I send a pup off. Beeing nervous holds on till the new owner calls or writes a mail that the pup is there, and all is well. Simply nervewrecking !
oh, congrats on your new pup.......have fun with it and good luck.

pjp,
Everyone I spoke with (about 6 people total) asked me what I was going to "do" with the dog. I told them she is going to be my pet and I am going to do SchH with her. One lady asked me what I do for a living to which I answered, "I'm a dog groomer." And she sais "A DOG groomer!?!? You NEED a broker!" Geez! I didn't know every dog groomer was automatically a breeder or importer for others,,, haha!
Ulli,
Thank you for the well-wishes. She is a handful already. I really was happy that Las Vegas customs was so helpful. I didn't have the flight information until later in the day, the day before she arrived -so I felt like I was scrambling to get everything in order, and it ended up not being as bad as I thought it was going to be.
If I import a dog any time in the future I will do as you suggest and try to get verything in order w week before, to save hassles..
I wrote the breeder as soon as she got here and sent him a few pictures so he wouldn't have to worry about her :-)
Thanks again to everyone who helped me

Even if Stacy has the USD 275 or even a million dollars and she can avoid paying unnecessary extra expenditure, she should do her best not to pay it. Good luck Stacy

If you are so scathing on a Person being low on funds then if you think it such a lowly amount then send it on to Stacy, But i bet she would not accept it, for she is a proud young Lady who can look after herself she said it as it was no need for sarcasem, I too am low on funds but if it came to it i would go without before my Dogs did nothing big in that just a fact and way of life we are not all well of as some folk are but i for one do not envy them for having more, i am content with my little patch
