Slamdunc

by Slamdunc on 29 December 2011 - 20:12

Those are really bad analogies.  I don't want you to do anything and I believe you "look the other way" when it is convenient or good for site hits.  I think there are certain "special" people and when their name is mentioned the thread is immediately deleted and the offender banned.  Other equally offensive posts can remain as long as a certain member is not mentioned or perhaps others are mentioned.

I think the way Phil was treated and how the situation was handled was poor.  He was an asset to the forum and I enjoyed his input.  What's done is done and I am not going to get into it any further.

How's that 'Keeping to yourself' working for you? lol

"He was always truthful ....."

Faking members out by posting with a multiple is not too truthful

And if you don't want to get into it ... Don't say anything but too late you did

So you, a cop who expects people to follow rules, thinks we should have allowed this member to contiune breaking the rules because he has knowledge?  What about his threats of violence? We should over look that too?

What should the rules be Jim? How much information on dogs does a person need to have to be able to by pass the rules? Just asking

Stray Pixels,
Please refer to me by my PDB name of "Slamdunc."  Usually, the people that refer to me as "Jim" are friends, acquaintances or people that I at least know.  I have no idea who "stray pixels" is, except an anonymous mod who likes to give lessons on manners and etiquette.  When I enforce the rules it is not personal as it is often here.  I am also professional, caring, fair, compassionate and helpful to people on a daily basis.  One thing I never do is give people lectures or offer bad analogies.  I am cordial and enjoy my job, which has nothing to do with this thread or this forum.  Please do not compare being a forum admin with the job that Police Officers do around the world,  that is another bad comparison.  It's been a rough week and I cut my vacation short for a friend of mine that was killed on the job.  He was on the job for 16 years and left a son with out a dad.

I suppose that I may recognize you by your other forum name and we may be acquaintances or even friends, I have no way of knowing...............   I would appreciate it if you just referred to me as "Slamdunc" or even "Slam" would be ok.

Slamdunc,

So sorry for you, and the loss of your friend.

On the Mods with two names scenario:

Yes, it makes it difficult for some of us. That is probably why I choose not to have PM/email relationships, it just does not feel fair to myself.

by beetree on 29 December 2011 - 23:12

So is this correct? Phil can still post under his name, but not the user name Duderino, because that name is blocked? That it is his choice to not post using his name because he wants to use both?

Now, please correct me if I am wrong, because I didn't pay close attention because I've never even attempted to sign on in a different name...but when the "change" happened it was only the Off Topics that did not allow multiple user names. And now it seems to me NO multiples are allowed at any
time in any forum?

Is this how it happened and how it is?

Sure thing slamdunc :)

Sorry you had a bad week... No need though to come here and take it out on us!

Again....

How's that 'Keeping to yourself' working for you? lol

I think it is the "fabric" , the whole of it needs considering, it is the integrity of the weft and weave that is the balance that needs to be achieved. Sometimes there are holes from wear and tear, sometimes because a big dog took a big bite. These things can be repaired but only if there is the desire to do so.

So Phil, pick a name and come back, you mean ol' Mali man! You do know dogs and idiot pet owners like me get a kick out of reading posts like yours!

beetree...

We worked quietly behind the scenes trying, to get people, to stick to one name. We did this for over a year. It didn't matter what section you posted to.  Some people didn't even care to try and hide their 2nd, 3rd even 4th name.

We have so many posts, of pms sent to multiple users, that we hoped by bringing the subject to light that people would stop.  And it has lessen the amount  dramatically!!!!

People can make new names and dump their old... no problem. Some people keep both or all their names alive but only can post with 1.  Let me try and explain that better....

Say someone has been posting with 2 names. We contact them and they want to still be able to use the pms for the other name... No problem!  But we ask that they only use 1 name to post with and they are told straight out that if they continue, to post with their multiple names, those names will be banned.

Dude had a choice.  He himself is not banned and he can post anytime under his unbanned name.

Does this make sense?

Ninja this is not the OT!

That was not funny.
You're not going to be making fun of him (or us) like that

by beetree on 30 December 2011 - 00:12

Yes, Stray Pixels, thanks for your detailed explanation, it helps.

NInja, I laughed.

But still, no Phil/DUDE...
