you got 2 dogs to match each others age which is good but tigger did not mind sharing his space?

Trigger didn't exactly welcome Bear with open paws. Shortly after taking those pictures a little skirmish erupted between the 2 dogs. I've put away all of Trigger's toys, at least for now. And I don't allow them to eat together. Today was the first time Bear and Trigger were outside playing together with no problems. It was good to see them getting along but wouldn't leave them alone unsupervised just yet.

Congratulations and thank you for rescuing Bear! He is NOT too skinny, BTW. Trigger is too fat.
LOL

I agree. Trigger is too fat. Trigger wieghed in @ 120 earlier this year. Vet said he needed to lose 15-20 lbs. That avatar picture was taken 5 yrs ago when I first got Trigger. He wieghed only 95 lbs then I'm embarrassed to admit that.

Trigger is actually pretty tolerant of other dogs but Bear started jumping on his back. Trigger put up with it for a few minutes while I tried to get Bear off him but then got annoyed and let Bear know it wasn't appreciated.

I think I know now why Bear was on his way to the pound. He's a screemer aka separation anxiety syndrome. I left him alone for just 5 minutes yesterday to take the garbage out and he ate the doorknob off my back door. Explains why Bear has so much energy. I think it's nervous energy at the prospect of being left alone. He screems in the car just pulling into a parking lot because he's worried I'll leave him again. Parking as close as possible to the entrance of a store or market does help so he can watch the people, come and go.

But even if Bear is a screemer he doesn't have to worry about being re-homed again. He's still a good dog and deserves to be loved and have a forever home. I'll just have to stock up on doorknobs  lol  Just kidding. I plan to work with Bear to see if I can figure out ways to alleviate his stress when left alone. It's only been 10 days and I'm hoping time will help also.
