About seven years ago my wife and I were going out to eat. We were on a main highway. As we approached a four way intersection out of the corner of my eye I spotted a huge Toyota SUV that went thru a stop sign at about 50 miles an hour. They would have T-boned us right on my wife's door but I had just nailed the brakes enough to allow them to get in front of us. So we hit them on their drivers side rear quarter at about 50 miles an hour. They spun around and rolled over and landed upside down on the median.
We both had our seat belts on, my side took the brunt of the hit. Our car was totally destroyed. The air bag went off in my face and the impact was so hard even with the seat belt on my head still hit part of the windshield and broke it. I remember my wife saying are you ok? I said I don't know. Smoke was coming up from the engine compartment and the inside was filled with a mist from the air bag. Which looks like and smelled like something burning. I said I think we are on fire let's get out of here. So she jumped out, my door was jammed closed from the hit and wouldn't open.
About then people were all around our vehicle trying to help open my door. I finally kicked it open.
Somebody asked me if I went over to see if the people in the other vehicle were all right. I said you better make sure I don't go over there or they won't be alright.
It all happened so fast but something made me glance to the right and nail the brakes, if I hadn't my wife would have been killed.
So I believe, I'm glad to hear Bee is ok. Queen Bees are hard to replace. LOL

Beetree,
It's a long story, but I was driving a Go-kart being chased by a rather large GSD, and as I came out onto the road I was run over by a car.
Arriving at the point of impact a moment sooner and I would be dead, if not for the dog it would have not happened at all, or if I had slowed down, a moment later I would have missed the car as it would have already passed.
Both my legs were run over by both front and back wheels, my head, arm, and shoulder side swiped the entire right side of a 62' Chevy going about 50 mph. from front to rear bumpers.

Red Sable, a friend of our family wasn't so lucky when she was hit by an illegal immigrant. Less than two years ago a drunk, illegal immigrant hit her and killed her almost instantly......... Not even a year after the matter......he was a free man again. That absolutely irritates me beyond no end.

That is so sad GSDguy. I imagine if we knew the state of half the people driving, or their driving abilities, we'd all stay home.

I definately believe in Guardians, they walk among us. I've seen too many things happen that survival simply could not be explained, not just to me, but as a nurse, to many others.
Bee- I'm so glad you're OK!
My personal story happened when I was only 19, I was taking baby photographs at Grants, a 5 & 10 store that has since ceased to exist. I finished up my shoot, packed my Econoline van with my equipment & my dog Ziggie, a Huskie/Irish Setter cross who was my buddy & my bodyguard when I was assigned the dicier neighborhoods. As I started home from the store near Perth Amboy, NJ, it started to drizzle. The traffic on route #9 north was bumper to bumper, but moving at about 45-50mph. The road was 2 lanes in each direction with a concrete median & there were cross roads that had yield signs, no lights or on ramps. I was tired, but I did have my seat belt on, that was something my dad had always insisted on, even had them installed, 'cause back then not all cars had them. My dog was sitting in the middle of the front, trying to get his head on my lap, when suddenly a white sports car darted out of the cross street in front of us, across all 4 lanes of traffic. The van in front of me braked & swerved, hitting a pole & bouncing back out into traffic, & nailed me in the passenger front side. That side of the truck just crumpled in towards me, & suddenly everything slowed way down. I was spinning in heavy traffic, getting hit again, & again. I kept trying to fight with the wheel to stop the spinning, but I just kept getting hit, I broke my wrist as the steering spun out of control with incredible force. I heard Ziggie yelp a horrible yelp, as the stereo system flew out of the dashboard & torn his face open. I felt something pushing on my back & I turned to see the grill of a Cadillac plowing into the back of my seat, pushing Ziggie up into my lap. We got hit a couple more times before it all stopped, I gave up trying to do anything but hold Ziggie. He was shaking & I was whimpering, too. When it all stopped, the front windshield was gone, & the guy from the first van that hit me was yelling at me "Are you OK?" I was crying, & so freaking angry....my poor dog was shaking so hard...but all I could think of was to yell at this poor guy, "Why did you do this to me? This was a brand new car!" (It was) Then the police were there, & helped me climb out through the windshield. They wanted me to get in an ambulance, but I didn't want to leave my dog. I wouldn't go until the cop promised to take care of my dog, & God bless him, he did. When I was released the next day from the hospital with cardiac contusions & a broken wrist he brought Ziggie to me, & took me to see my van, which was completely crumpled in, hit everywhere. There was a 2'X2' space on the drivers seat, that somehow Ziggy & I both survived in. I'll never forget what he said, telling me that his wife & kids both wanted to keep my dog, 'cause he was so sweet with them, but that he had to bring him back to me, because we had an angel watching over us, 'cause there was no way I should have lived through that. Then he showed me the drivers seat. It had been pierced straight through by a piece of that Caddy's bumper that had sheared off. I didn't have a scratch.

An amazing story of survival Jackie, you were both so lucky.

Just want to say thanks to the folks who would miss me, if I suddenly dropped off the face of this Earth! So many amazing stories being told, too. And Moons, how is it you can walk, never mind be alive, after getting run over? Glad you're still around, too, LOL
Grateful in the end, no matter what. I always give thanks, just to be alive.

Wow, glad you both are ok.
My mother tells me my guardian angel worked overtime when I was a child. In Germany, when I was a toddler, I climbed over the fence (my Oma had turned her back for a second) and was sitting on the wall about 5 feet away from the tigers with no barrier between us, I watched them and they came over and watched me, lots of people screaming and I was told I giggled at the tigers coming over, my Oma calmly told me to get back over to her so we could meet my parents and I did. Later while on the boat coming from Germany to America, my parents left me sleeping in my berth (you could do that back then and the steward would do rounds on all the children) I somehow found an entire box of double edge razor blades and had fun. My parents came back to a toddler sleeping in the berth with a mattress, pjs, and bedding cut to ribbons and not a scratch on me, I even had one in my mouth. Another time I was walking across the street with other school kids and as a truck ran the red light, I tripped and fell in front of the speeding truck, apparently I fell between the tires and it never touched me (the driver, teacher, and the other kids were traumatized but I was fine except for skinned knees). I was supposed to be on the flight 255 that crashed in Detroit MI, but due to a ticketing screwup, I was placed on the next flight out, I was in the air when 255 crashed. My guardian angel's busy career continued when I was blown out the front door of a house when the fire backdrafted suddenly, I remember flames and then hitting the ground HARD (all the gear and air tank are heavy) and my partner landing about 2 feet from me, boy was I sore and bruised the next morning. I pray that my guardian angel doesn't blink.....

Glad your okay Bee. And AMAZING stories! How can we not believe? And GSDguy, so sorry for their loss. We can look back on things and know that it was not possible to make it through it or it should not have turned out the way it did......... I've escaped death four times, (maybe five? depending on how you look at it?) I don't think I'm invincible but like Slam said, when it's your time it's your time. My thoughts too. When @ 14 had double walking Pnuemonia, had it like fourteen times but this time was bad. In Michigan you catch a cold and it can turn but you don't think or realize because that's Michigan. So playing hockey or being outdoors when you shouldn't be. But I went into emergency on a Tuesday and woke up on Wednesday, with the tubes and machines in my mouth. Was talking and couldn't believe I had been out for an entire day. I wasn't, it was next week 9 days later. And I guess they didn't think I was going to make it because there were so happy to see me awake. While in New Mexico I was bit by a Western Diamonback Rattlesnake and the poison got all the way to the lining of my lungs and almost killed me. 5 days ICU, wired to machines and monitor screens and came away with a partial ampitation to one of my fingers. Hunting in the high mountains of New Mexico and trying to get out of the mountains before the sun went down, (behind the mountains) during the winter. Racing to get off the mountains to beat the sunset and ended up on a ravine, boulder that I couldn't get back up to the rock before and there were no rocks below or to the sides. About 6 ft out was the tip of a ttree. The tree was @ 40/50' tall and I said I could make the jump. Threw my bow down to the ground and made the leap of faith. The branches at the tip weren't strong enough to hold me and I plummetted to the ground. What stopped my abrubpt descent was a bolder underneath the snow. The fall wasn't what hurt, it was the sudden stop (argh argh). While in Germany (think I told this story when I first joined the PDB?) I rolled my BMer on black ice. Rolled 1 1/2 times, all the windows smashed out and as I was rolling on the roof a voice said lay down and as I laid down the roof crushed down into the headrest and back of the seat. The seat could not go forward. I craweld out of the BMer and almost cried because I wanted to bring that car back to the states.
There's a couple more but my shift is almost over so I'll continue tomorrow. Glad everyone is safe through their odeals/situations!

Beetree,Two Moons.
There are 3 types of mercy extended by God.
No. 1 General mercy of God. This mercy is extended to everyone, believers and unbelievers alike. His tender mercies are over all His works Psalms 145:9.
No.2 There is a special mercy of God. This is bestowed on the children of men,not withstanding their sins. God provides the necessities of life, For He maketh His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust Matt.5:45.
No.3 There is a sovereign mercy of God. This is reserved for the believers, who are the hairs of salvation.
One must realize the mercies which God bestowes on the unbelievers are solely of a temporal nature. There will be no mercy extended to them beyond the grave.
Im certainly glad that you two are still alive. God puts people like you two in my life to fulfill my desire to bring my brothers and sisters to Christ.
P.S. Beetree have you ever thought of taking you driving test over again? You might be getting a bit old and senile, and your reflex might be 10 times slower than they used to be. I happens to all of us you know.
Just a bit of humor on my part,I love having a bit of fun to.
