I hope her beach house stays ok. We just had a F3 tornado rip through our area on Sunday, pretty much destroying the center of a very scenic town, killling one, injuring 37. It caused major damage.
Hurricanes are something we don't have to deal with. Wishing you all the best.

Thanks Red, She's definitely getting worried because my brother is coming up at the crack of dawn to bring the skidoos to higher ground. THey haven't dealt with something like this before so no one knows what will happen. We're moving everything in and up. The kitchen and bedrooms are on the second & third floors, so those should be okay.
But still, I think it will be a mess.

Holy Cows, it's getting good and windy round here.

It is an ongoing mess, here. The old apple tree is split. My garden is flattened. The big maples are getting stripped if their leaves. We lost power sometime during the night. I am using my sons iPad for Internet ... For the time being, might have to use the car to recharge.
Stay safe my good friends who are riding this thing out with me!

Hope you get your power back soon Beetree.
We just lost cable TV. The power is still on though.
I just took a ride and power is out in the surrounding towns.
When a huge oak tree branch crashed down about 30' away I decided it was time to come home. LOL
The wind is still howling off and on here.

Whoo! Sounds like a close call, Ninja! Still no power ... The eye must be going now , it is very calm ... Then they said the winds will change direction for the final round. Dh just returned said there are roads closed all around with downed trees and lines ... He doesn't think we'll have power for awhile :(((( Hang in there!

Has she lost some of her steam? What category is she at now?

by Ninja181 on 28 August 2011 - 17:08
Red Sable,
It's just a tropical storm now.
But there are occassional heavy wind gusts, that are bending trees sideways. The roads are covered with downed tree limbs. All the ponds streams etc. are really high, some are overflowing.
A lot of flooding. I think the flooding is now the major concern.

I lost 3 windows on the house, all the windows in the north barn (they needed to go anyhows) my 130 year old corkscrew willow tree is all messed up (I'm pissed), all my baby cherry trees vanished, too many trees to count are down, the only roadway too and from my place is the iron bridge and that is totally blocked by downed trees. This must be a sign not to go to the END THE FED rally on Tuesday, darn it.

Still no power. :((( Been cleaning up all day. DH is on the serious ice hunt. No school, again! The only thing we do have, is running water.
I keep hearing a neighbors generator, (those things are loud!) And I still want one LOL
Hope your clean up is going well, BabyEagle.
Saddest for me, is the state of my garden, I'm saving what I can. I have some gigantic cucumbers I'll have to share!
How about you, ninja , busy with the chainsaw? That is the most popular sound...all day long!
