Not to change the subject on Puesdo Scents; which I myself would Not Use.

Slamdunc; has a great deal of current expertise with this subject in the U.S., my information (for what it’s worth) may not apply.

If you are a Private Security Contractor using a K9 Detection Dog, You & the K9 will be held to a Higher Level of Accountabiltity ( I have a Badge, you don’t, Ergo I am better than you) than a recognized Police/Sheriff K9 within the legal system.

This is due to many reasons; including legal liability and public perception, etc.

Keep in mind that once your Detection Dog has a good alert on the “contraband” they were trained for they need to be trained/introduced to the “disguising” odors which are usually found along with the contraband (drugs, tobacco, cell phone, etc)

This includes but is not limited to; ground coffee (only in Hollywood but it is used, Bad guys are dumb) bounce sheets, scented diapers, incesense, etc.

Also keep in mind that You Must Record daily training logs, with all peritinent information for court scrutiny.

In Canada our legal system requires “Full Disclosure of all Evidence”. Meaning;  all of your personal notes and training logs regarding your K9, how you obtained evidence etc.

Full disclosure evidence must be provided to the Defense. Always make Professional Notes!

Reseach the “contraband” your K9 has been trained to “Alert” on.

Research and train in how to; “Articulate” to the Court how & why your K9 “alerted” on the vehicle, package, parcel etc. that they alerted on.

Articulation wins every time!

If anyone is interested in further information please feel free to e-mail me, I do not check PM’s often

First there is "NO" case law on the usage of pseudo. You only have to prove if asked, "did you store it properly per the manufacturers guidelines and replace it when it reached shelf life".

I have used pseudo heroin in the past when my real stuff went bad. My teams showed no difference in their response on it as they did until I was able to get the real stuff again. I insured that I followed the manufacturers guidelines to the fullest.

One last thing I would suggest, ensure you can proficiency train on the real stuff whenever possible with trainers posessing the real stuff. This ensures the courts that your pseudo is as effective as the real stuff.

Records!! Ensure you are maintaining your records and be honest about your pseudo!
