I have heard nothing but bad news about this guy. I am certain Olex will become available for stud with the new owner. Therefore, I am sure there will be many "fad" breedings with Olex, which means some very poor quality females bred to him, which will produce poor quality pups. Anyone interested in purchasing a pup out of an Olex breeding should be very cautious and find out as much information as possible about the bitch used. I would say a very sharp bitch should not be used with Olex. Does anyone else have the same opinion? Reed

In theory people should be curious about both the stud AND the bitch with any breeding, not just with Olex. I think it would be great if he were available for outside bitches. Who told you all the 'bad news' about Jonathan Richards? Sometimes you have to consider the source. I personally have no knowledge of the guy, his business ethic, or kennel affiliation. Your warning about him doesn't take away any of the good genetics that Olex might be able to pass on to pups. Having Olex available at stud might be a good thing for alot of breeders. Time will tell.

I agree on everything you said LaPorte "In time we will see"

Your warning about him doesn't take away any of the good genetics that Olex *might* be able to pass on to pups......We shall see....

Reed, you have some mysterious posts, the implication being that the new owner and/or dog should be avoided. Anything to back this up? I'd prefer to see facts, probably others would as well.

Well, to say breeding to Olex would be a fad breeding is a bit out of line. Has he not proven himself in the whelp box in Europe?? He has many titled progeny all over the world, including here. I can't classify that as a fad. Saying Olex should be avoided and is fadish is misinforming.. I wonder what it is that you think you know about him that would make you come to this conclusion?? Anything or Nothing?? Breeding to a young sieger winner that does not have many progeny could be classified as fadish maybe.. DJ

LaPorte, Hundguy, I don't know what the motivation is for either of you, but if I should assume, as you two do, I would say Olex would be used by one or both of you soon. What both of you are missing is that this dog was used over 100 times for stud in Europe by top kennels with top bitches and, yes I am sure he was used by the everyday Joe as well. If you look up his stud chart, Olex was used primarily by the top kennels or trainers, and his reputation is because of these top kennels and trainers. Now if either of you can provide me with twenty-five top kennels here in the states then both of your points would be valid. A large percentage of breeders here in the states, really don't have a clue as to what they are doing, when it comes to breeding. They primarily breed out of gossip and fads, and that is why our animal shelters are over-populated with unwanted dogs. Yes, Olex is a super producer, however it is odd that Wayne Curry, the previous owner of Olex, does not show any breedings with him.

You are very perceptive on my comments - I have all my 37 females lined up for fad breedings with him. Pups will go to novice homes too. back to my reply "In theory people should be curious about both the stud AND the bitch with any breeding, not just with Olex." Buyers need to do their research, and breeders need to be wise who they place the pups with. His owner needs to be careful with which female Olex is bred. But since that doesn't always happen in every breeding, let's just neuter and spay everything on 4 feet, so those shelters don't get crowded! Over 100 breedings in Germany with top kennels and top bitches, and the pups went to top trainers? - should be a great tribute to what he produces. "Olex was used primarily by the top kennels or trainers, and his reputation is because of these top kennels and trainers" Aren't reputations made with top kennels and top trainers anyway?
