Thanks for all the replies. When she does this it's not necessarily a problem, but more like "Geez, chill will ya? We're going! We went yesterday, we're going today, we'll go tomorrow...". The cow on ice description is pretty accurate as she's bounding back and forth between where I might be putting on my shoes or getting the keys and the door. Heaven forbid I forget something once I've gotten to the door because she's liable to take me down trying to head me off at the pass and direct me back to the door. Again, not so much a problem, but a quirk that would be nice if she could tone down...just a bit.

My girl Kali is like that, too. I don't have a problem with it. She's 7 years old now, & the fact that she can still bounce up & down in 6 foot high leaps by the front door makes me happy! Those are some awesome hips! She can even land on her hind feet & bounce back up before her front feet touch the ground, like a Lipizzaner stallion! I've had moments of exasperation, & sat down to wait out the exuberance, & so did she, with her front feet on the doorknob. That's how she learned to open the front door! Now I just love that bouncing happy display of pure joy! jackie harris

I only see that as a problem if it's causing problems on the walk. With my dogs they don't get excited like that when we go on walks. They like to go for walks....but many times if any one of them is excited and I've already got the leashes on them I just stop at the top of the driveway for a few minutes until they calm down. Mine never have that problem anymore. However, if they hear me rattle keys their brain goes CAR RIDE!!! And they run over to the car very excited. Buck is pretty goofy though when he gets excited over something like that, he'll walk towards the car and shake his head funny, and he just can't contain himself. I don't mind the excitement over the car rides since he's so well behaved when we get out of the car in public or anywhere for that matter.
