spleen problem - Page 2

I am in the same camp as ShelleyStrohl.  I say get the whole spleen removed becuse eventually it may rupture and you dog will bleed to death internally.  I had a dogs spleen removed after bloat surgery, she was 9 at the time.  In hindsight even if they could saved her spleen, due to her age it likley would have ruptured at a later date anyway (no cancer was found in the biopsy).  With your current problem it appears you have a "little time"to get second opinion and make an informed decision about spleen removal.  However if you wait too long ptures the dog will likely die before you can get medical attention.  Spleen ruptures kill quicker than bloat, so its quite fast and removal possibility needs to be considered a serious option.

i agree, but the only thing is I got the impression that Pro might not be in the US and maybe the vets do not have the necessary experience and/or facilities, also that perhaps they think the dog is too sick to operate. Would be good to have an update.

yes they say he is sick to opearate..he can die after anastasia??? is that true????
they cant guarantee. they say it i risk..decision is mine..

Has there been any change in your dog's condition since you last posted, and is he on any other medication?  If no improvement risking the operation may be the only option to try and save him, but your vets should be able to advise as to the risks of operation versus the risks of not operating.....difficult one, let us know how it goes.
