Šarplaninac is the oldest breed of dog on Balkan,companion of shepherd and big herd sheeps,defense it of wolves.Strong and brave,he is most safe defense of wolves.Šarplaninac goes in fight with wolfs,bears and other mountains beasts to protect his herd and shepherd,in that case he risk his life.Natural selection of this breed performs is shepherd and hard life in cruel mountains.
