I've never heard of Quinoa, so I will have to see if I can find that in the stores.
As for meat being a source of iron, it sounds like you have to eat the liver, no thank you, yuck.
A lot of good info.
Thanks a bunch.

If your hemoglobin is low, a likely cause of true anemia, then iron supplementation is not the answer. I know this from experience, as you
only need about 18 miligram of iron a day as a woman in her reproductive years (more when pregnant)... and it should be pretty easy to get it through your diet, even without eating meat.
Are you taking a quality multivitamin with B vitamins & folic acid? Look for one without iron, but that it contains 50mg of B6, 50 mcg of B12 and 400 mcg of Folic acid. Along with iron from your diet, these help with the manufacture of hemoglobin.

Yes, I probably should just go to the dreaded doctor. I have started myself on vit D3 and Omega3,6 and 9 oils, also bought B vitamins and every morning I take Greens+.
I know I can't digest milk products nor gluten, but a diet without those is REALLY hard to follow at least for me.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I really appreciate it.

Iron is not excreted like other vitamins/minerals, it is stored, which is why it can be dangerous to take iron supplements, without knowing if you need them --even if you are a woman who is pre-menopausal. Calcium does not cancel out iron absorption, but a mineral like zinc can cause iron and zinc inbalances. Vit C is known to promote iron absorption. And too, people can have iron storage disease.

I was perscribed iron pills when pregnant and constipation was horrible. I went to a whole foods store and asked for a remedy. they suggested irish moss extract........ a few drops under my tounge sever times a day and it worked like a charm......
sometimes a natural source is better.
Also have your thyroid checked out - a complete panal test.......
