Many different options here:

1) Does the pineapple work?
2) Don't let your dogs go out alone doing their business, watch them, clean up before they can reach.
3) Feed high quality kibble (e.g. Orijen or Acana) or switch to raw.
4) Dicipline your dog every time she is going after the poop.
5)Get your dog's mineral levels checked at the vet.
6) Add "Udo's Choice" Dog Essentials (supplement) to your dog's food.
7)Order a coprophagy kit at Bio-Behavioral Technology, Inc. (call 602-897-1541) - it works through taste aversion and makes poo really, really yucky.

Good luck!

They do this when they are lacking vitimins in their food. Try brewer's yeast, either powder form, one teaspoon with each meal; or tablets. She'll stop within a day or so. I tried it and it worked. Stop the yeast once she has stopped eating her poo. Raw normally makes it worse because un-digested food comes out the other end and this can smell enticing to dogs.

I think the idea that this caused by a lack of 'something' in the diet has now been Pooh-pooh (pardon the pun!)

Years ago I had 2 dogs, fed identically, one was a poo eater (only her own), the other wouldn't even walk near a poo, (she would give it a 10 foot berth), let alone eat it.

I think additions of pineapple or other aversives is probably best. I did hear that courgette added to the diet helped. My dog just stopped one day and never did it again.

Abby Normal,

Very funny :-) Although, these are animals and not machines. Therefore, two dogs fed an identical diet could in fact require different quantities of vitimins. They may burn energy at different rates. I am no expert, but know about this because our pup started doing this and that's what the breeder suggested. It worked, so we were pleased. No harm in trying, brewer's yeast if fortified with B vitimins.

Thanks

Sangar

Absolutely, Sangar! Even litter mates have each individual metabolism's and do not digest food equally.
They have their own individual temperaments, independent of food or lifestyle (indoor /outdoor, long walks, short walks etc).
What works for one poop eater doesn't have to work for the other.
