True. Tennis balls are horrible for dogs' teeth. Get a ball that size meant for a dog.

Jenni, what does that last sentence mean? Just curious, Stickler.

Get a ball that size that's meant for a dog. I was being lazy and omitted the "that's".  It still pretty much has the same meaning, though.

Do you like these better?

Get a ball that size, but meant for a dog.

Get a tennis-ball sized ball that is safe for a dog.

Get a dog-safe ball that is the same size as a tennis ball.

Cuz balls, jollyballs, teaserballs....they all wear down teeth if the dog is kneading them.  My 2 yr old's canines are flat:(
I can't let him play with anything I listed, much to his dissapointment. I may have to have them sealed so they don't get worse with age.  Though he has crushing grips on the field...

ok..so solid or hollow rubber balls? she does love to knead her tennis balls till they pop and break in two...would kneading on hollow rubber ball be safer for her teeth?

Well..... from my perspective (schutzhund), I don't leave balls laying around for dogs to play with.  They are the most highly prized toys of all, so I always want my dog to associate me with the ball, in other words, the game is with me, not just the ball.  So my dogs never get a chance to wear down their teeth with balls.  The balls that are my hands down most favoritest of all in the whole wide world are the new Gappay firm balls from Hallmark.  They are hard and solid and the string doesn't come out when playing tug with dogs, which was a problem in the past:

Good point, but what about dogs who will just grab something every time they are let loose? I know several who will literally tear apart a small tree to get sticks if you don't leave anything more appropriate out for them. Now, of course, this is all a control/OB issue, but in all practicality, many people like to be outside w/their pet dogs and not be commanding them every second and they do like to let their dogs be dogs sometimes. One such dog is one of my examples- he has torn doors off of walk-in coolers, managed to move a telephone pole, tore siding off a barn, has ruined countless metal buckets, and likes to carry only objects weighing 100lbs or more, lol. He is in a working environment where owners cannot be on his case every minute, so this dog has some pretty short teeth.
