the vets out here (OK) have all gone up. it used to be  $65/film now they want $120/film

i refuse to sedate for OFA. it is not needed and can cause your dogs to blow out their coat

new vet down the road just told me $20/film plus fee for ofa. yippe... we're going tomorrow

If I told you there would be a mad rush to my vet, some would probably fly their dogs in and save money. He is one of the best orthopedic guys in the state too.

I am near Jacksonville and found one vet that is digital, BUT requires sedation. The other vet is not digital, but never uses sedation. I've been using him and just take a good quality camera to get a pic of the xray when it's on the backlit screen.

Anyhow, here are the prices:

Digital with sedation:
$135 xray
$25 sedation
$40 office fee

you can add both elbows for an extra $50

Film xray without sedation:
$125 xray
$35 office fee

add 1 elbow for $125 or both for $150 (which sucks)

My puppy was sedated for his prelims but that was because they were doing tooth extractions at the same time.  It was easier, cheaper, and less stressful to have it all done at once.

Next Month i take Gina for her Hips and Elbows x-rays plus her DNA.
If the Vet sends them off to the SV for to make the results offical, the bill to me will finish up at over 500 USA dollars
Not Cheap at all, I have to pay the SV for Hips  the Elbows and also the bill for the DNA these come to as much as the Vet charges for taking the x-rays, because he will charge me 230 USA Dollars to take the
x-rays and the blood sample

Always shop around for everything.  Where i live having teeth done costs between 6-900 buck yup that is the quote I got!!! I went to another larger center and the cost was 125.00 taxes in.  And people wonder why i do 90 percent of my vet stuff myself!  ( i can't do surgery :)
