Guys I'm always weary about ordering things online, when do you put in the coupon code? After you enter your debit card information?

Well, I decided to try a few new ones. I used Bravo over a decade ago for my old Chihuahua- loved it. It fell out of favor here in stores after a voluntary recall for possible salmonella or something (I mean, who would think raw chicken could have salmonella?! ) but was never able to find another food as easy for small dogs at such a good price. Also, it had a lot fewer ingredients than many of the competitors. So, I ordered a variety pack of Bravo for my new Chi pup and I ordered a variety pack of Primal (which I haven't used before) for my cat.  I used to get the big chubs of Bravo and cut it up into hamburger patties and then just individually froze them and thawed them daily. It came in other forms, but the big chubs were waaay cheaper.

It's typically not cost-effective to feed pre-made diets to big dogs, but for a 2.7lb pup, it's REALLY hard to mix things just right for a prey model raw diet....and then when you've accomplished that, try to convince a cat to eat something different every day.

So, sorry I can't be of more help, but I use the Nature's Variety Raw Instinct currently for my little one and cat, am very happy with it, except for price, and I am looking forward to trying Bravo again. I'll post back about the Primal when I try it. I have heard good things about Primal though. I just try to make sure that the ingredient list appears to be the correct balance of meat, bone, organ, etc.

Thanks, Jenni, I appreciate it.  The only raw (besides buying my own chicken, tripe, beef heart, RMB, etc.) I've ever used is K9 Kraving, which this place doesn't offer.  I did buy a lot of TOTW off that site, though. And I would be using it for big dogs, so I passed on the raw/frozen this time.  Thanks again!

Question about feeding raw to cats - I've been recommended Primal before - I have a cat with ongoing (and expensive) urinary tract problems - he gets blocked.  I'm feeding him a dry urinary-tract health food, and every day he gets the vet-prescription canned food (C/D I think - or one of those).  Would Primal or another cat food be good for him?  Or keep him on the vet stuff.

Jenni - when do you back-click to get the 20%?  I am trying and don't see it.  want that discount!

Molly, I can't get the 20% to show up today either; maybe because I had ordered before. I don't know. It kept popping up last night though.

As to the cat thing; my male cat had that issue for years. I didn't go the prescription diet route w/him, but instead did a bunch of research that made me try more meat, especially red meat, in his diet. I fed him the beef or venison versions of several raw frozen diets and he did very well. I never had a full blockage on those diets.  I was trying to make his urine more acidic. I also added DL-Methionine to his food during periods of stress, which were what triggered his episodes. I would immediately take him off the dry food altogether. They simply don't drink enough water to make up for kibble, especially when there's a known problem already. Since I learned what I did from him, I don't put any cat on any dry food. High meat canned or raw only. They WILL eat it.

This has some info on feeding and supplementing.

rats, I just ordered the chicken/salmon Primal raw frozen for my cat.  Oops.  well, I'll make another order I guess for beef or venison and mix the two instead of his canned food, or in addition to it (that prescription canned is really expensive).  I leave the urinary-tract health dry food out for my other cats, he doesn't eat much of it though (hardly any) because he spends most of his time upstairs (where he is fed the canned) and my chihuahuas enjoy chasing him back up there when he does venture down.

If you put the item into your shopping cart and then click to close the page, you will be offered the extra 20% plus free shipping and the $5 on your next purchase, at least that's how it showed up for me.  Hope this helps.

Thanks Robin for the heads up on this special.  When I last looked they were sold out of all their TOTW.
