This was my knee about a week out, all swollen & full of staples....it helps to photograph it every so many days. Use the same background, like the same color sheet, the same time of day & the same lighting, that way, as it heals, if you think something looks weird, you have a reference photo to check from a day or so ago. Usually you'll find it's almost the same, but it really helps to know if something is changing.
And every one's right about the physical therapy afterward. Just go at training your knee & leg muscles like you were training your dog, it's real work, but you see results real quick! Don't worry, you'll be fine! jackie harris

hello gouda, I have a friend who had knee replacement approx. 2 yrs. ago. He is a life long competitive weight lifter and body builder. He's has been back in the gym and doing as well as ever.

His job requires him to be on his feet 8-12 hrs a day, on concrete floors, and he has no issues.

hth,
Rik

My Brother had a complete new Knee Replacement on December 4th just gone , Now it is some 30 plus days after the Operation, He had 52 metal clips removed two weeks ago, After only this short time he drove the car two days ago and this morning he took Gina the 10 month old Puppy in the Car to a Field and did a little Obedinance with her. He walks around the house without a Stick but takes one Crutch if he goes to the City but he goes for a one Mile walk every day.
So do not worry he said all will be well.
Not only has he had a Complete New Knee on his Left Leg, His Right Femur is  Screwed and Plated from the Hip to the Right knee and been like that for 20 years never to be removed, with Nerve Damage from the Knee to the foot but he still trains the Dogs so think positive all will go okay and good Luck Not that you will need it

Gouda
I have enclosed a X-Ray of my Brothers right Femur, PIc the wrong way round but just for you to see,
This has been in place 20 years now and as i say he has just had a complete New Knee replacement on his left Knee, after only 30 plus days he is driving the Car and today he took a Dog out for a walk to a field half a mile away to let him run
Tomorrow we go to the Training club proper after 5 weeks off, He will not work a dog tomorrow but it will only be a matter of a few more weeks
So the reason for showing you this is for you to not worry about if you can train your dog after the operation.
You will have no trouble, in fact you will not have the pain you had when you trained before
