Just a suggestion:  if you think the dog has allergies, why not find a veterinarian that is also a nutritionist and see what you can eliminate one thing at a time in food, and try to identify the allergy to make this a little more simple?

There are some homemade diets recommended for dogs with allergies and they consist of the carbohydrate souce primarily being brown rice, cooked ground beef or lamb, add a multivitamin daily and a 1/2 cup of organic whole milk yogurt, tablespoon of corn oil,    Just for a ration until you get something figured out.

If you want to research some of these yourself, there are two texts, on is by Lon Lewis, the other is published by Waltham.

Ears and so on can be yeast and just plain your environmental conditions.   Now, think about the products out there used for yeast infections.

Ok, that ought to start some conversation!

BTW, I have feed regular kibble food for a couple decades now.  I found most of the problems in diet attrituted to some inflammation and the animal's immune system can work well if it is healthy - and so the daily organic whole milk yogurt.

Good luck

Had this conversation a few weeks to a month back. Lots of responses. Raw diets were explained and some of the commenters even showed pictures of their typical meal setups.

Can't compare weights in kibble vs. raw.  Kibble is concentrated, dehydrated protein.  Meat, like our bodies is some 70% water, so it will always weigh more.  A 65-pound dog may need around 3 pounds a day.  The pre-made raw diets because they have been reviewed by a nutritionist and have vitamin supplements added.  If prey-model is fed, it has to be done right and should have supplements added to make up for any deficiencies.
