GSDPACK my dad had the same thing happen to his sciatic nerve that your dog did. He had problems with it for nearly a year.

GSDPACK: I cannot even imagine how upset you must have been. Molly would never be a regional level dog, but we were having fun at club level. Having a dog ready for regionals and then losing that dream would be really hard. I am glad you were able to reach your III and then compete in tracking. I could imagine a dog like that would not be happy staying home.

My first Shepherd was my teacher. She was very tolerant of all my mistakes. She was retired from competiton obedience at the age of 7. Schutzhund is much more demanding physically. I am sure I would have had to retire her younger had I done Sch. with her.
She enjoyed her years until the age of 13 1/2 when I had to let her go.
You and Molly were a great team and this will continue as you do what you have to do to keep her healthy and sound so she can be with you for as long as possible.
Hats off to you and Molly for all you have accomplished in just 5 years!!!
