EMT  GEL IS THE THING TO USE  IT IS SO STICKY YOU CANNOT GET IT OFF YOUR HANDS..  NO BANDAGES...SORRY VETS DO NOT KNOW GSD..  TRACTOR SUPPLY HAS VET WRAP AND EMT GEL.....IT IS FOR DOGS, HORSES AND   ABHAY POSTED THIS 4 YRS AGO..I HAVE TWO TUBES AT ALL TIME FOR ANY WOUND.

IT IS A COLLAGEN REPAIR GEL AND SO STICKY IT WOULD HOLD YOUR CHECK BOOK TO THE DOGS ELBOW....USE A  THROAT  APPLICATOR TO PUT ON DOGS ELBOWS....NEVER USE A BANDAGE UNLESS IT IS ABSOLUTELY     NECESSARY...IF DOG IS EATING HIS FLESH OFF..ONLY...LICKING WILL HELP BUT  IF HE IS EATING HS SKIN...THEN BANDAGE TEMP. FOR A DAY OR SO WITH THE GEL...IT REPAIRS THE COLLAGEN IN SKIN AND IT HEALS..........

EMT spray has an ingredient added that makes the taste bitter so it isn't pleasant for them to lick the sore.  EMT is wonderful and speeds healing.  I always have the gel and the spray on hand.  I use the spray for places that they are likely to lick and the gel for anywhere close to the eyes.  Same ingredients in both except that the spray has the bitter taste to discourage licking.

Most of the time I let my dogs just take care of the wounds. But a couple of times when I needed to wrap I used the "sticky" sport tape you put on tennis racquet handles. But always used the ointment/gauze bandages first before wrapping.
