I, as some of you may know, am big fan, breeder and promoter of Czech/DDR lines.
However I'd say this to people who are looking for a dog.
There are many different type of dogs in different lines. You as a beginner have no way to grasp it. Thus you need help and thus you are not really looking for a dog, but you are looking for a reputable, responsible, honest and knowledgeable breeder who will take you by the hand and ask you many questions and then recommend you dog for your particular need and purpose. That is what you need to look for....breeder who will help you to make the right choice. Ask 1000 people and then make up your mind. (Chinese proverb)

I agree with Prager totally, I always say for a non-professional search the breeder not the dog as a honest reputable breeder will guide you to the dog which will meet your needs, even if he/she does not have the right breed, bloodline or type he will give advice and recommendation of another breeder that has what you're looking for. That said asking the experienced is a step in the right direction as you're doing right now.
