Raymond:

Seriousley thats not a solution because it won,t happen. Yes some will leave most will stay. UScA had the opposition beat well before the meeting ever took place. The President won by almost 2/3 majority what real choice was there for therm. Matt is a good man but your looking at a National Orginization with internal strife,Another 2National Orginization,s throwing up road blocks as often as possible(GSDCA-WDA, AKC) and several World Orginizations to deal with (S.V. FCI, Ect...).

I belong to 2 different Martial Arts Orginizations in the U.S. I pay around 300,00  a year in dues I get a few peices of paper thrown at me stapeled together every six months. 150.00 a year for what I get is a pretty good deal. A nice magazine quartley, more trials then I can trial at in a year for my GSD I believe UScA still offers more trialing opertunities then any other breed club or National Orginization exsisting and even still has a All breed working dog championship for those with Other then GSD breeds. 150.00 a year is chump change.

It,s not perfect by a LONG shot but until the opostition sets down and puts together real goals attainable for the group and gets some real direction we will get what we have.

It's sad really, most people in this sport do it for a hobby.  I'm sure that we would all love to be with our dogs 24 / 7 but in reality it's not possible.  I'm sorry RLHAR, I wish I could help you. I am helping out a member this year that can not afford to pay her club dues and now she will not be able to pay her membership to USA, and she has a great dog that she has worked really hard to train.  She finally was able to get her BH with this dog and was really looking forward to going on to SchI.  I think I am going to try to rally our club to see if they can help her with that!

Gsdshow,

Thank you and it's wonderful that you are supporting your club member!  I'm lucky in that I can choose to stay with the new due or choose not to and I have about a year to figure out which way I want to go.

I just feel a $40 bump for single membership and a $60 bump for family membership is going to be hard for some people to choke down but maybe there will be published an accounting of expenses to explain where these numbers come from.

gsdshow the dvg is a real posibility! Several have already brought that  option up! I am sure we will discuss it this saturday! One option  is  that our club will probably need to raise some funds  to cover the added costs of membership  dues ! As small as we are now due to the split we  suffered  because of the ja issue  our survival is now hanging in the balance!

If you break it down the increase comes to 3.33 dollars per month or .77 cents per week.

The thing I like about DVG is they welcome every breed.  Sometimes I feel like I have a disease because I own a showline.  My club, which is a USA club is not like this but we have brought in helpers and trainers and they have been mean to my dog because they don't like showlines, I have actually had one USA judge tell me that out right.

bgstout,

I understand the simplicity of it, If they could pay it per month maybe it would seam like less of a sting, but they can't and $100.00 or $150.00 dollars is alot to come up with all at once for some people.
Just saying!

When I was working with my tools an increase of 65% was as Bob says chump change! but since the housing market has gone south and  there is no work  and those 1200.00 paychecks everyweek  have dissappeared like a fart in the wind   I find  that type of rate increase very hard to accept! Since all the usca officers are volunteers  how do they justify it??? OH because of DECLINING MEMBERSHIP! nOW THAT i AM DOWN TO SUBSIDING ON 300 .OO PER WEEK  A MERE 65% rate increase is outragous!

gsdshow:

I commend you for helping out a fellow club member. I paid the USA dues for a women in our club that I used to belong to that was going thru  money issues she was having.

Those are the kinds of things that make a good club and club members. You should not take any BS from any helper because of the line of dog you train.

The whole financial issue is true for many. Where I live, kids must now pay to be a member of their schools extra curriculum...sports, band, chess club etc. While it may seem excessive, it appears to be necessary. People will leave for various reasons. It's inevitable...:-() You can't blame a whole organization for someone disrespecting you or your dog.....!
