OH SO TRUE, MM......If we could all be more like our beloved dogs, this world would be so much better.....

Sorry Max for butting in, I'm getting used to so many "holes", I don't expect everything to make sense anymore.

I'll leave you with Nona. Have a great day.

Now you see Max, when it gets to be repetition, that's when I begin to drift off.

In competition,....you should expect to do as many 4000 practices with a dog.
Before you will get a good consistency. It is repetition and being consistent with your commands
that leads the well bred dog to learn Schutzhund.

In your head you already know what your next 4000 moves should be.

R1,
You remember Phil telling you to keep your commands short and
start with just a few commands. Than as the puppy gets older start to
expand his repertoire....Most of your foundation is based on how well
you and him proceed. The foundation has several parts to it not just
dog commands. I personally like staying with a certain type of dog, because
I already know what I am going to have to do. To establish my foundation.

Parts to a good foundation...

Short word commands

Short list of word commands

Dog is comfortable with his trainer
This requires spending time and
being part of that dogs life.

Food, sleep, rest., exercise..and general care.

A well thought out routine....teaching him his commands.

Always set him up for success.

This may get deleted so I will see if it post...before I go any farther.

Mainlymax, some people just don't have the desire to comprehend anything.....You had a good choice of words in your posts......

Sorry, no puppies available.      You may want to check rescue again, or maybe one of your friends can help find the right puppy for you.....

BeeTree,
You are always welcome.....this was deleted.

The last puppy I sold was in the 80's.......Because of my accomplishments
by the time I was 40...or so...you could not tell me anything....than the horrible
truth came...and that was I had not even scratched the surface...Needless
to say my big ego took a nose dive....But that is when I really started to learn about
dogs and how to train them.
Ty Murray had a similar epiphany after he retired...he decided to learn good horsemanship.
