I have also fed this and didn't see any advantages. I have tried some of the others like Eukanuba/Iams, Nutro, Diamond... they all gave pretty much the same results. The only real difference I saw was price. As others have said, use what works with your dog.
Feeding a higher quality food will mean that you need to feed less than with a low quality food, which in turn leads to the smaller/less waste. How much of the food that is being used by the body will also contribute to this.

I fed this food after asking people about it here awhile back.
My dogs ate it fine for nearly 6 months then slowly lost interest in eating it at all.
I also found the food to sometimes smell almost moldy. I took it back and put them on Chicken Soup but now I have allergy issues.
I need information on California Natural as I was told it was good for dogs with allergies but I'll post it under its own topic.

Is there much difference between feeding royal canine or eukanuba?
