Could you explain more ?

hi! it just means that i think it's worse (the effect on the puppies is likely to be worse) if you breed with a mother which is let's say over-sensitive or not interested in working....usually this will have stronger effects on the pups as if you take a "weak" father.

however, i totally support KCzaja's opinion:
-Why breed to a male who has no notable drives or work ethic when there are so many studs out there to choose from?-

regards!

Thank You!

High thresholds win out. You are taking a high threshold dog and crossing it with a lower threshold dog. You will make doorknobs as well as some that sorta work.

However, you need to look at this breeding as part of larger entity, and not what can I do this time. You should be thinking HOW HARD IN MY ASS is this high threshold shitter gonna fuck me in 5 years time when I am trying to create my line.

Then ask yourself if their is some super redeeming character about the dog that you HAVE to have in your line.

Royal,  May I ask what health checks you have undertaken with this particular female?

Does she originally come from a Breeder that you admire and respect?  Would it be possible to discuss your considerations of a potential Stud with her Breeder, who might hopefully be able to help and guide you?

(I remember eagerly waiting on a repeat mating from the Breeder of a super GSD that I have the pleasure to own.  But even though the same parents the 'gene mix' and resulting puppies were not what I was hoping for personally - So no guarantees, but you carefully do your homework to the best of your ability, to bring out the best breeding results from the parents).

Well! the female that I have has very high drive, alot of energy, full potential even she is show-line but I would consider her she could work as a working line!

Royal, you don't have ANY working lines dogs there. They are all show-lines.

Where in the world has common sense and stewardship for our breed gone???
Why are you even attempting to discuss this with this person. The question alone shows as total lack of knowledge about genetics, about the German Shepherd breed and about working ability. Take a look at his/her other posts. For cripes sake he can not even distinguish an American pedigree from a german one.

Royal1 - HOW DARE you be thinking of breeding your bitch. A breeder is a steward of the breed and needs to be knowledgeable about the breed, it's history, the lines, the working capability, drive, character and temperament. Puppy buyers come to YOU for answers. Now isn't THAT a frightening thought.

Vixen asked you about health checks. You ignored the question. You don't even know enough to post your own dog's pedigree so  the linebreeding will show. Do you even know what linebreeding is and how it is used in breeding? I doubt it. Do you own a copy of Malcolm Willis's books or any similiar reference material. How many shows, trials, herding events, obedience events have you ever competed in?

Most important what has this bitch done to be worthy of breeding. How old is she? What health clearances have been done. You say  "Well! the female that I have has very high drive, alot of energy, full potential even she is show-line but I would consider her she could work as a working line!" How would you know? How many dogs have you owned and worked ( again from your questions and the way they are asked I somehow doubt very many. In fact I suspect she's your first) I note you say she has a lot of "potential" that suggests to me you haven't done one damn thing with her. If I'm worng please enlighten me- but I note we do not even have a name for her never mind show rating, working titles, koer, hip status etc etc etc.

So what makes her breed worthy other than the fact that your paid a boatload of money for her because you didn't know what your were doing.

IF you sincerely want to learn about the breed and are willing to post pone breeding until you've educated yourself then there are plenty of us willing to lend a hand. But if you are just one more person with money signs in their eyes - I paid x amount of dollars for her and think she could have 7 pups - I'll be rich!!! PLEASE PLease go find another breed to ruin.

What's wrong with my dog? did you find a flaw in the pedigree? I have a good start here!
How could you even say stuff like that ?

I have to wait till she turnes 2 years of age before breeding. When I bought her I did not understand much, so what !!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: Later when time gone by I have learned that my male GSD that I have is a working line and not show line, he has extreme prey-drive.

By the time I will breed her I will learn more about German Shepherds.
