can you guys please enlighten me and some others im sure as to what Olex has produced and what qualities he has for our females in the states.

I can care less what this breeder does with this dog, i'll never pay that much for a pup, there are only two breeders i'll buy pups from, he is not one of them, not saying i wont get a good pup, but i have learned from many many bad experiences with untrustworthy breeders to continuously waste thousands of dollers for nothing, so he can sell the pups to whom ever he wants, i'll never buy a pup from him, or any other breeder with a big name dog,and a big price tag on this dog progeny, that don't mean shit to me, im not the one who buy dogs because said dog has been to big trials, max tiekerhook, and a few other dogs i like, has not done the BSP but i like him, and the other dogs mention way more. jmho

Mike responds: He has no qualities for "our females in the States" because he will not be studded to outside bitches. That's the point a couple of other posters have tried to make...with Olex being at Kraftwerk, the only way you will get his genetics is if you buy a pup from Kraftwerk. He is now in a "closed" program and will only be bred to Wayne's bitches and maybe a few close friends, and that's how many famous stud dogs die out when they go to the States. Kraftwerk isn't the only one that does this, so don't think I'm speaking about only them...I'm just using Olex as an example since the topic has shifted to him.

I agree Mike I know some argue they can assure the quality of the females by limiting the stud to only their breeding females but I know this is so often a "marketing line" to basically force everyone to get progeny from one particular kennel. So often more prerequisites are placed on these "outside bitches" than there are on their own breeding stock. With the internet and people willingness to drive, there are many ways to limit good stud dogs use while making him available to quality outside bitches. I could name a few nice studs that didn't benefit from this but I'd rather save that "can of worms" for someone else. At any rate, Olex had (2) sons in the BSP this year and from what it seems he will have several sons competing in the BSP again this year. Maybe we'll see some "Vom Kraftwerk" pups a few years from now thru Olex competing in the GSD Nationals, USA Nationals, FCI World Team, WUSV (USA) Team or similar. Quite frankly, the big trials won't mean anything as long as the dogs are good. I've seen quite a few Olex sons and daughters that were extremely nice. If anyone has a good one that they'd like to give up feel free to email me :-)

Has Wayne come out and said that he will not breed Olex to any other females or is the just hearsay? I have not seen anything other than what has been posted on here that says he will not breed outside his own kennel with Olex.

Wayne will not breed any of his studs to outside females, period. Why would he when he sells pups for $3000? Not many people would pay that for a stud fee.

by DKiah on 12 May 2006 - 21:05

I'm surprised people are willing to pay that for a puppy as well!

Yeah, me too! I have a dog I bought from Wayne as a pup over 4 years ago, back then he was only charging $1200. She is an excellent dog out of Rabauke, but there is no way I would pay what he is asking now! He also sells his adult dogs for a minimum of $7000, and that is just for the BH title! But to some people, if the dog costs more, it must be a better dog.

I have an Olex daughter that is a very serious dog-always go, go, go. She's quicker to aggression than she is prey drive but a blast to work with but not for the real faint of heart. I'm going to be careful where and with who I place her litter.
