Mom and pups are doing good. Another boy popped out right after my last post. That makes it 6 boys and one girl! The little girl is awefully tiny, but she's suckling well and sleeping a lot (twitches in her sleep). I still can't get a lot of milk from the mom when I squeeze her nipples, but all the puppies are sleeping well so they must be getting what they need. Maybe I'm just not doing it right.
Mom has had some really bad bouts of diarrea. What should I do to help? We're able to get her outside for a few minutes to pee, but she's so concerned about her pups that she won't poop. Which means its all over my house. When will she be comfortable leaving the pups alone for a few minutes?

after eating the placentas it is normal for the mother to get diarrhea,I would recommend a diet if chicken and rice for a few days and very small amounts of kibble and plenty of water. Also honey is very good for milk production a teaspoon added twice a day. She sounds like a very attentive mother and it is very normal for to not want to leave her pups

A couple tablespoons of pumpkin for mama dog will help with the runs; make sure it is just plain pumpkin in the can; nothing with any sugar or spices. Just plain pumpkin from a bowl that she can just lap up she will love it and it is loaded with vitamins for her also. I had to find my canned pumpkin at Henry's market which is a farmers market as Libby's etc supposedly has a pumpkin shortage?? Go figure. The mama dog is darling with her puppies; she will relax soon and go out to take care of business and then want right back in. Good luck and would love to see more pixtures. Nan
PS you can give the pumpkin 2-4 times per day about 2 tablespoons each time until after the runs stop.

More pictures for you all! Mom and pups are doing great! Mom still has diarrea but we're working on it. She's much less reluctant to go out, which is good. Now that she's not pregnant I can see that she's pretty thin. I've been feeding her small amounts about three times a day. Pups are gaining about an ounce a day and sleeping well. Since we're big Houston Texans fans we named them all after players. Any guesses on what the dad is or what they may turn out to be?
Andre (in green) is such a mama's boy! Poor little Andie (in pink) looks smushed!

They are so cute. The weight gain in the puppies is good. They are so young and mom is a mix so it is hard to tell what dad is. once they open their eyes we can guess what dad is. Glad you are such a good caring person to help a stray. God bless
