I wonder if the team members will have to be picked from this one qualifiying event, if it will have to be the top 5 winners in this one qualifing event? Going to the WUSV requires one heck of a time and money commitment from each team member. Plus winning any event is not an automatic ticket to the event, merely part of the qualification process, right? So if top 5 placements in this event becomes the sole requirement for team membership, will anyone be allowed to enter this event or only those who meet certain minimum qualifications?

Interesting to hear the crickets regarding the Landau ouster...

by sueincc on 15 September 2010 - 00:09
Can anyone confirm his ouster? Is it definetly true or just a rumor?

Bob, I was a GSDCA member for many years. Helped found a GSDCA affiliate club and served on the board of 2 different GSDCA specialty clubs for several years.
I agree with everything you say about the GSDCA. They are an absolute pathetic organization who has allowed the breed they are charged with protecting to devolve into an absolute pathetic caricature of what a GSD should be,
The WDA is not the GSDCA. Regardless of the affiliation and the picture that people like to paint. Check the resumes of the elected leadership of WDA. Which of them come from GSDCA backgrounds or present the GSDCA "standard" as the goal they strive for. Who could be so foolish as to think that people like Wallace P. and Eric E, choose to represent any organization with GSDCA goals.
Finally, you have chosen to allow one man to tell you where you may and may not trial your dogs. To tell you what you may and may not do with your dogs. Don't you think it ironic that you accuse others of boot licking.
You are a big guy, sadly it seems to me that you have not grown the set of balls to match your frame.
JMO,
Rick Atchley

Why was Landau asked to resign?

Hello Silbersee,
Nice to see you here.
My opinion of the GSDCA and SV being frauds comes from these observations:
GSDCA is a member of the WUSV which means it is supposed to conform to the FCI standard for breeding German Shepherds. They do not. (there is much more, but, I will leave it at that for now)
Every year the SV allows many, many dogs to be titled to Sch1, 2, or 3.
How is it that a dog with even only a Sch.1, let alone a Sch.3 is incapable of heeling off leash? (I'll leave tracking and bitework out of it)
It is the SV judges (and ultimately the SV as an organization) that are allowing this. Why?
If they are going to hand out fraudulent titles to dogs just so that they may be bred, then do away with the requirements. Why deceive people?
If you do not believe those things are fraudulent then so be it, but, I believe that they are fraudulent and ruining the breed further and further every day.
As for my homepage, I don't know what you are talking about, but, please send me a pm.
Thanks!

Hi Rik:
Haven't heard from you lately, and thank you about the inquiry about my testicles I had my wife check them last nite and she says they are fine but I appreciate your concern.
Actually I do trial where I want to and will always train the way I want so I,m unsure of your reference?.
If i,m not mistaken(and I could be) The WUSV will make the the 2 recognized orginizations work it out so I would think that would be USA and GSDCA am I not right ? The J.A ammendment was voted in by the majority delegates I believe so it wasnt one man so again unsure of your reference?. We will have to wait and see in Reno if it stands or not.
The germans them selfs hold there own standard at arms length and use it at there likeing but when were told you have to do this or that all the affilated orginizations snap to.
In the end this whole mess will only concern a few people on a world competition team, the vulcans said it best when "the needs of the many out way the needs of the few" I hope this clears up a few things for you on my opinion.
Again I hope this finds you well and again thanks about the intrest in my testicles(which in all honesy I find a little weird?)

For you who don't know Wallace.. his dog put on a very good
protection performance at the World championships in 2006.
If our team does as well this year we may have a shot.
Wallace,..you may remember me, I am the guy with questionable comprehension
skills.
It looks like two organizations will have to have a trial to see who will be
going to the WUSV championships to me. I would not read any more into
it than that. I know how the WUSV thinks. But I am not perfect may be there
is some thing I am missing?
I am not trying to start trouble,....is this another don't ask and don't tell?

Hi Bob, pretty smooth reply. I honestly hoped to pizz you off a little bit. I felt that since I am a USA member, you considered me a boot licker. Instead, I spewed some Bud on my keyboard.
I have no interest in your testicles and if your wife feels they fit the standard, that is good enough for me.
Here is where I am coming from. Many people like to present and promote their GSD in a structured and controlled environment. In the U.S., we have 2 choices, USA and WDA. I think this is a good thing.
Both are patterned after the SV. Which I also think is a good thing. Regardless of the short comings of any of these organizations, they can be changed by the membership if they feel strongly enough about them.
WDA started off as nothing more than a proxy for the GSDCA to present itself as a serious GSD proponent to the world and to counteract the growing popularity of working dogs in the U.S. through UScA. It was begun by GSDCA folks and for many years, governed by GSDCA people. I honestly think that in their arrogance, they never envisioned that their "token" contribution to the GSD would end up populated by people whose only interest was in the breed and not GSDCA. Next , WDA membership became strong enough and fed up with direction of the GSDCA that they voted out every proponent of GSDCA and installed leadership who reflected their views of what a GSD should be. Since that time, almost every news letter from this leadership reflect further gains in taking control of WDA.
Credit UScA in that they never sought association with GSDCA. They are the ones who forced change in the direction of the GSD in the U.S. I disagree strongly with the JA because I do not feel it benefits the breed in any way. But if the majority of UScA also disagrees, then they will eventually make their voices heard. If not, then I still think it a good thing that people have choices and that only one organization cannot completely control the direction of the GSD in the U.S. Just look at the attention UScA put into the protection phase at this years sieger show. If WDA doesn't match and allows weak dogs to pass, they will present a very poor image to the world.
This has been a long post and I apologize. Just some things I wanted to say. In closing, all I really wanted to convey to you is there is not and never will be a perfect organization of any kind. Just as there will never be a perfect dog. Sometimes, you just have to work what you have.
Best,
Rik

Rik:
I agree with you on almost every count. But the WDA can,t exist on it,s own with out the GSDCA with out that affiliation how do you get German judges? How do you get Titles recognized by any one but the WDA?.
Now let me explain my self, I could care less if my judge is from the Mother land it carries no weight with me. For some reason USA (and the GSDCA_WDA) feels that they have to have German Judges at there larger trials and regional to make them more credible(?) why? I,ve heard it all "well they are more neutral" Bull shit!!! they all have there agendas you can,t believe that for one moment.
If you feel that way( not you personally) then go to Olympic style judging at large events 3 judges and average scores(would probably be more accurate any how) In my opinion every time USA use,s foreign(European) judges you kick your own organizations judges in the nuts. So now our judges are SVF certified? okay how often do you see our judges in Germany?
If this whole game USA and the GSDCA-WDA all goes to hell in a hand basket will it change how Rik or Bob trains his dogs? I bet not I bet your dogs training is more important to you then all the politics between the two Organizations. Both organizations are run with people with there own agendas they will come and go promise all and deliver little (again both organizations) and as long as they are both led around by the nose of the Germans
this game is going to go on forever.
In all honesty What would happen if one of the 2 organizations said "Okay, So we don,t send 5 people to Germany" does the sun not still rise tomorrow? do you not get sold dogs from Germany?(ain't, going to happen)>
In the end I don,t buy dogs with the fanciest score books I tend to buy the dogs I like, titled or not.
And I could care less if the judges name in the book say Joe Smith or Heir Adolf Vom Schloppoff,
My friend Rik...Be cool .
