Sock I agree with you. Have been told as much by serious dog people and breeders. My puppies will go somewhere new, with a person who they don't know, to do their testing. Also helps to get a unbiased result. I as the person handling them from day 1, don't want to be thinking back on what that pup did a week ago, while the test is being conducted. Take the results of the Volhard test and then use what you personally know about each pup, to make a homing decision.

Kimmelot,
I have lost  sales on puppies because buyers based their decision on what the puppy looked like, never knowing that the puppy's potential and ability was way more than what the buyer was capable of handling...I REFUSE to sell for the wrong reasons.......But if that breeder who thinks he is good enough to sell puppies based by the way the pups plays and interacts with things,  he is obviously producing puppies for the almighty $$$$$$$$$$, and obviously the wrong reasons....

Like you, I feel it is more important to loose a sale, than place a puppy for the wrong reasons in a situation that is totally wrong..

4pack .. that is where its important to KNOW your puppies that are being tested. What if one had coccidia and normaly is active and happy , now today durring testing its doppy and won't give you the time of day ?? I guess a good breeder would just set that one aside, but let's just say that the Evaluator looks at that puppy and judges him a 4 soft with no drive and medium energy.. when in actuality its a 2 hard with lots of energy normaly and very attentive and drivey ?      Lets hope "if" a breeder uses an outside evaluator, that they themselves can judge personality and already know whats going on before the tester gets there hands on them.

Some people ( like me) have places on there property that the puppies have never been, so testing in a new place is not that hard.

Every breeder should do what works best for the puppy, and the buyer.....Obviously Not all breeders do this....I am not going to argue or debate this....Thats not what this thread was intended for.....So for the ones who want to argue or make trouble, by addressing individuals and saying they are wrong, your purpose for responding than becomes to make trouble...No one's opinion is wrong or right....It is just that, an OPINION......So who are you to say another person's opinion is wrong......?

Behavioral testing is fine, but ultimately it should only reinforce what a skilled, experienced and knowledgeable breeder already knows about his or her pups.

Which is a roundabout way of saying I doubt breeders like Karl Füller or Willi Müller need to use it.

4 pack it works and really if you know your puppies like you should it is easy. after all you should be spending hours a day interacting with them playing and observing.

The Vollard must be administered by a person the puppies do not know.

Right at the top of the test it says: "This test must be administered by someone who has no previous contact with the puppies.

The intent of the OP was to find out if the results of the Volhard puppy aptitude test,  were accurate as to what the puppies tested with it became as adults.....In other words, only someone who did the test and followed the puppies progress as they got older and matured could give an accurate answer...
The question was not intended for breeders who sell only pet quality puppies or didn't use the test....

Again Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

What the hell do you not understand. I know way more than you give me credit for and are you dropping your comprehension to ask stupid questions?  Just asking? Since you are so good at adjusting your comprehension and writing skills.

The Vollard is only as good as the evaluator and if you have these questions you might want to spend more time reading and less arguing with people.

Kimmelot,

my point in having someone else do the testing, is so bias answers don't take place. If I knew this pup was exceptional every other day of it's life, would I give it the numbers I should during the test? Probably not. You use the test results given by the evaluator and your own knowledge of the litter, together to make your choices.

Testing your own puppies is a waste of time. You already have your favorites. Of course you would skew your numbers to fit the dogs you want to score high. A stranger will do no such thing.
