Feeling sorry for the dogs and cats?
What about the children?
Yeah, no kidding. Why didn't our parents adopt starving orphans instead of having us?

My late hubby and I adopted our son. Then I had our daughter. Son would have been aborted if we had not.

Taliban huh?
I'm not sure about the starving orphans, makes no sense.
Neither does comparing disasters.
It's not about sending money, it's about compassion.
About priorities.
As for the dogs and cats, it's the responsibility of the animals owner period.
The whole shelter issue is the problem of the shelter, animals who have no one to care for them should be put down.
The people in this third world country will just have to endure what is to come, they can't be spared their suffering can they.
If you can shed tears for a dog or cat, but turn away from human suffering so be it.
I don't know if other countries would help us, we are in a better position to help ourselves.
Point is, I can't get too upset about animals when I see humans in a similar situation.
I don't give money to humane societies or shelters.

If I could not rehome the dog it would be put down.

Now, how many have you actually went through with the destroying of your own breeding, for lack of homes to place them? Just curious....I bet zero to none, or at least I hope so!

That's the whole point isn't it.
There have been a couple of times I almost took a dog away from a buyer after seeing the way the dog was cared for.
I've never had one returned.
But if for some reason someone can no longer keep a dog I would rather have it back than see it go to a shelter.
Finding a good second home is even harder than finding the first, depending on so many things.
Yes I have done the deed, when it's necessary.
Bothers me less than seeing one in a bad situation.
It's never easy make no mistake about that, but I would never trust the task to anyone else.
It can be done correctly without the stress and fear involved with handing the dog off to strangers in a strange place, caged.
Many people just can't do it for themselves, I understand.
People should be able to pay a vet for the service, if they can't afford it I guess a shelter is their answer.
I prefer my own ways.

Probably the best post I've seen on this board. For those who "get it".
Point is, I can't get too upset about animals when I see humans in a similar situation.
Moons, too bad your heart can't feel compassion for BOTH animals and humans in distress.
It's a shame people continue to produce animals OR children when they can't take care of them.
