How is your puppy doing?  I sent you a PM but got no answer.  So, I guess I have to post on this forum.

I have had quite a bit of dealing with this terrible issue.

Generally speaking the current method of treating dogs with demodex, is to simultaneously give them a general antibiotic as along with demodex there is usually a secondary skin infection.  Demodex in and of itself is not itchy (sarcoptic mange is itchy).  But the secondary skin infection which is usually a staph infection causes the itchiness.  That means cephylexin is usually also prescribed besides however the vet decides to treat the mite.

There is a very good product on the market that you can treat topically (not only for demodex) that can be purchased at the local Feed Store called Nu - Stock. "nustock.com'.   It is not toxic and suffocates the mite.  This in combination with the antibiotic should cure your pup without use of more drugs.

I wish you much luck.  This is something that really looks worse than it is.

Vets always seem to make a big deal and you may find yourself in your worry spending many more dollars treating this condition and worrying about it than is really necessary.  It is a great disease for the vets because it not only looks so bad but makes the dog itch.

Antibiotics in combination with treatment = NO PROBLEM.

With generalized demodex however in an older dog, this may not apply.  But with your puppy it would.
