Mudwick is correct; the most common cause is corn and wheat in the food; eliminate those and what are most likely yeast infections should be a thing of the past.  I use and recommend Canidae: canidae.com/

SL,

It will help the infection and your dogs comfort level if you clean them out once a week also. It's not the source of the infection as allergies is most likely the source as stated above but cleaning them helps. Use an ear cleaning solution you can put directly in the ear and massage then wipe out gently. For a quick fix if you do not have an ear cleaning solution you can use distilled white vinegar on a cotton ball and wipe out the ears. I would not squirt vinegar into the ears though.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Selten.  I do clean my dogs ears out and still wind up with this problem.  The vet says its normal.  I was thinking about feeding them raw because I have changed the food a few times and still have problems.

If you think you're up for raw, that'd honestly be the way to go.
As a rule, I don't recommend it, because it does take a little more self-education than kibble, and when done wrong, can cause some serious health side-effects.

Depending on which kibbles you've fed, you may or may not see an improvement.  The key is removing all grain from the dog's diet.

I have a good connection to get meat so if that would help me then i might have to go that way instead.  i will look into it a little more because i thought that i could just give raw meat didnt know their was more to it.  i will be lookin into this

Feeding raw does require more education! However sine my brotha of another motha has internet acess he can acess all relevent info on raw feeding!  Never cook the meat! I aint never seen a dog cooking over a camfire! never seen em diggin up potatoes or pickin maters! Southern Love google search raw feeding and it will take you to several sites!Kibble is a newcomer to dog food world! circa 1900 all dogs ate scrapuntill modern slaughter house operations started using the waste by products into dog food!

SL......I had the same problem with one of my dogs. I changed his diet for 6 months, didn't help, got medicine from vet which worked for about 2-3 weeks. I used drops and kept them clean. My friend advised me to get the ears flushed out because he thought maybe a little bit was left deep enough that wasn't seen and it would just rebuild back up. After 2 flushes, I haven't had a problem. Might not work for your dog but its an idea.

Where would I get the ears flushed?  The vet never told me about this.  I think they just like the fact that some idiot keeps spending his money with them
