There is someone here in central CT who has been breeding Shepoodles for more than 10 years now. Most are black with floppy ears and hair somewhat stuck between a Flat Coat and Poodle or curly Flat Coat.

I have not seen the definition of hybrid being restrictive to between species.
Hybrid: The parents may be of two different species, genera, or (rarely) families. Sterility is also not a necessarily a result from hybrid breeding especially when within a species.
Genetics:Hybrid=t he offspring of genetically dissimilar parents or stock, especially the offspring produced by breeding plants or animals of different varieties, species, or races.

@K9-Mom: Thanks for your info....it's interesting to know such breeder still exist. Sheppoodle...sounds interesting. Wonder if some of us can post a few mixed breed photos for a laugh....
