Which lines or dogs at this point in time that might come close to produce a pure top level competition DDR? Also any line that tend to produce less defense drive and full calm grips?

A competition dog at a national level, would come from
a very small breeding pool. So don't think in terms of
American , DDR, SV, Belgium, or Dutch. The people
who compete know well the bloodlines to seek out,
and than it is still hard to choose, unless you are buying
a dog with National scores that have been tested. In the
USA you don't find those kind of dogs for sale only in
Europe. Here you find puppies, which is like a lotto ticket,
but at least it is is fun and affordable. You can join a local SV club
and train your dog. This is were it all starts anyway. If you are a
long time competitor, than you reach deep into your pocket and
buy a good dog. Like you would buy a race horse.

4 or 5 years to mature??? there where dogs with multiple sch 3 psh 3 competing in the DDR at 2 1/2 and 3 years of age before the wall came down I purchased many back then and they where as mature as any other breed at that age.
I think it is the way they are trained now. Those dogs then had more natural aggression and the trainers allowed the dogs to use it. They would work them in defense as well as prey at a young age. They liked a civil dog not a prey monster.
I think we use that adage that they take longer to mature when its simply the inability to train them the way they where years ago in the DDR. Then again the blood lines are so watered down and it seems there is only a hand full of the gene pool being used here maybe that is the problem.
I see alot of DDR line dogs with sch 3 in Germany that are younger, look in the adds of German Kennels as well as the SV magazine etc.
I will always say it comes down to the training and the Quality of training.

I LOVE the DDR lines. I have done alot of reasearch and studying on the DDR. I love them. I have a bitch that has a good bit of DDR in her she is my sweet heart. I have noticed that your DDR bred dogs are low key and calm they do have drive just use it when asked to. I have a Falco daughter and a Igor Grandson and Oh my Gosh they are drive drive drive all the time....

I use to have a DDr dog that was a serious dog. He wasn't a good SchH dog cause he was serious and some helpers couldn't deal with him...or didn't know how. There was one that did work him well but I wasn't able to always work with him. From what i hear about his sire was that he too was a bit more serious and scared some of the helpers.(I am just going on what I have heard) So maybe that was the issue.
