Daryl,

Since I do this full time for a living now I have enough.

Are the members of your club willing to train with your surplus dogs for additional membership costs, or for each-occuring session?  Seems that starting an additional club would be more costly, for both money and your time.  At least, if training additional dogs is your only real purpose for considering this route.  Expanding the availability of the sport to newcomers is great, but could mean new headaches for you, and I'd think ultimately, it's the experienced backgrounds of the present members and helpers that makes a club a learning success.

I think I stated above that they don't like to work more than a couple dogs per person.....hard on my good helper and not every dog works out so I don't want to take away from others who would like their dogs worked too.

That's why I'd assume the remainder of your dogs would be worked at the end of the day (regarding protection), when everyone else is done.  My club typically had 2 or 3, and sometimes 4 or 5 certified helpers on a given day, of 6 helpers among the membership.  You attain another helper, you don't necessarily need a club.  You make another club, you then need a helper (or two).  Since I obviously don't understand your situation, I'll mind my own business.  Just trying to be helpful, but I'd assume it'll be more trouble than it's worth for you, and add more responsibility to your seemingly already full plate.

Daryl.

It would be nice to have my own club because the trial schedule sometimes is limited in my area and well, on a selfish note, I could have the convenience of having training at my own place and not have to load up the dogs and transport them.  Plus there would be no fuss or squack about me having multiple dogs that I want worked.  My current club is a good one....we don't have but a couple decoys and it makes it tough to tote more than 2 dogs to training.  I would like to work my own titled dogs and I have 2 puppies/young dogs of my own that I want to start. Then my client wants 2 from her own breeding program titled....one is 2 and the other is just 4 to 5 months old.  My own titled dogs only need a little "tune up" work, nothing that is a whole lot involved, just maintenance.  AND, I can only attend my current club once a week due to a schedule conflict on my part.

I agree that you need a website.  A guy and I set up (actually, reactivated a very old club) a "new" club a couple years ago and most of our serious interest comes from the website.

I *totally* hear you on the "multiple dog" issue!  Our decoy and myself both train 4 dogs each. My nick name for years has been "A Trial in a Truck"!  : )  I LOVE starting young dogs.  Our decoy and I are were both tired of being hassled for having multiple dogs when all these yahoos with ONE DOG couldn't make it to a trial but we were getting OUR dogs in!

You go girl! Best of luck to you, and hope it works out for you.
Diane
