Lol, I'm told that all the time because my dog is "too small" (as in not 100 lbs) and doesn't walk on his hocks "like they're supposed to". Hmmm...well, at least we know we've got great GSDs :)

vonissk, similar thing happened to me at the vet's office.  I had my black puppy there for his first visit and a guy with a cat asked me what kind of dog it was.  I to him a GSD and he told me it looked like a Lab, while giving me that "Boy, did you get ripped off!" look.  I said, "Yes, most people who don't know much about color variations in breeds, think every black dog they see is a Lab!".  He stayed quiet then.

I have more people that know me because of my dog..  How many of you recognize this mug?
We had a great day playing in Cache Creek today.  Do you see his little Corgi friend Rosco, right on his tail into the water.

Yeah around here, I'm known as the lady with the POLICE dogs. LOL People even ask if I'm a cop when I am out training.

I wouldn't say people know me because of my dog but I think that more people approch me when I am walking my dogs....mostly kids are interested. I think Dar is the only sable GSD in this town. I have seen a few black and tan GSDs and i have heard of someone that has White ones but no sales. If i go to a drive through(mostly KFC) the people there love my dogs and always give them free chicken nuggets. Lucky dogs!!!

Oh yes! Everyone knows our dogs and  without them, no one wouldn't recognize us! Actually both of our dogs are certified therapy dogs and my husband and I go to the local rehab/nursing home weekly. Most of the residents know the names of our dogs, but I don't think anyone knows my name or my husband's name :)  I honestly think that anyone could take our dogs there and it wouldn't matter becasue our dogs are the important visitors ! That is ok because the smiles and the excitement of the residents when they are able to pet and love on our dogs is rewarding beyond words. In the past I was into Schutzhund and it was a lot of fun, but it doesn't compare remotely to seeing the results of bringing our dogs to visit the residents at rehab/nursing home. My "heart dog" is 11.5 years old and is well known in the breed for his performance titles and balancing/trick skills.  Everyone seems to know Poe.  At our nationals a few years ago an acquaintance came by my set up and said that a friend of hers wanted to meet me.  So she introduced us and after about a minute of small talk she asked me if I had brought Poe with me.  When I replied that I had she got excited and then paused before asking if I would mind taking a photo of her with Poe :-p  So I guess I would say that Poe is more popular than I :-)

You all get attention because you have GREAT dogs. People admire beautiful well trained dogs and it makes us proud.
There are plenty of people who are known because of  there dogs also but for the total opposite reason

Nothing better than a well balanced dog.
