Next year wouldn't have mattered Zac, its this year that a member of the club's own EC was picked to judge (and for the first time of giving tickets).  Makes me wonder what sort of voting system they had in place for that.  No wonder they offered to run the show.

I thought that too Doppleganger.
No doubt I will be accused of nipping at me and mum again for that thought too!

Doppelganger,

I was not on the EC at the time it was suggested to ask me to judge - I was actually asked to judge their 2008 show but was unable to complete all the KC "tests" in time for getting the approvals through so this invitation was postponed to 2010.

I re-joined Lichfield branch last October because Mum was struggling to run the breed open show and needed some help, I was then asked by that committee to be branch rep on the EC.

I am under no illusion that Mum's presence on the EC was influential in the proposal to ask me to judge the show but I guess all judges have supporters on the committees that ask them to judge.

I am a bit sad at not getting a chance to judge a champ show - but onward and upward I am looking forward to a new regime and the true promotion of fit for function GSDs.

Hi "Zac" and "DoppelDonger"

You are on the wrong track totally.   The show being cancelled was not the worry at all.  The reasons that the KC were given is the issue.... three people that had offered to carry on and run the show, were declined, and then the reason given to the KC that we were going to disrupt it so they couldnt run it !!!!    Nuts.   I know of one other committee member who was asked if she would run it, and she said she couldnt do it single-handed which was quite right.

Re Shirleys judging appointment.  You may even be privvy to the minutes of the EC meetings, and if so, you will see way back, in 2008 - that it was the suggestion of the secretary Kathy Hood that Shirley judged for her first appointment, and she was not a committee member at all at that time.  Even if Shirley had been on the committee, NONE OF OUR COMMITTEE`S EVEN OF THE BRANCHES CAN SHOW AT THE SHOW

Reason?   Sorry Shirl, but it was said that it would save the club money as the year before was Frikki from South Africa and they nearly had apoplexy at the air fare.   This is a club with thousands in the bank of members money..... all going to Collies, or the Kennel Club.

Good luck to anyone with a GSD that stays the course with them - as Shirley states, onward.... its not a worry to us, it was just a question that was asked at the top fo the thread, as to why the show was cancelled  -  I certainly want it cleared that it was none of our doing.    Mo.

PS - something to ponder on.

Birmingham & Dist GSD Assn elected to sign the agreement, so that they didnt lose tickets.   They achieved their vote to sign,                  then cancelled the show ???

Took the words right out my mouth Mo why orchestrate a yes vote to save there tickets then cancel the show so they lose the tickets this year anyway  very sinister indeed more to this than meets the eye. Is there a rule about how many GSD owners there needs to be on the committee after all it is a GSD club.

Hi Jim,

Every committee member must own a GSD by their own rules and this is a tricky one.  The lady Chairperson is a very lovely lady of very senior years.  She no longer has a dog, but for her past many years has owned a collie, so to be correct, she shouldnt hold the position of chair - however, she is a much respected lady and we all love her very much, and wouldnt upset her for the world.... she stays - some things are more important than dogs.

With that in mind, it would be very difficult to impose stipulations on others that are sitting on the committee and should not be given a committee position or voting rights - but it wuld be more than easy to be honest and give the members from the floor no voting rights on this issue when they didnt own a GSD as it is in the constitution of the Association.

I thought this was just a "collie ladys view and political move" but the way in which the general secretary has conducted herself since, calling people working obedience and telling them the error of their ways if they sign etc beggers belief, and to change a venue for a meeting, and pick up members from a car park so she didnt know where she was going, its laughable, we had no intention  of storming her houe in hooded cloaks....in fact we have no intention of anything but getting on with looking after the best interest of the GSD, which is what this association was set up for - and what Snaffydog says pm`d is hilarious.   I think they all need to gete into reading novels, as this has obviously gotten to certain EC members so much that they must be losing sleep.   Mo
