Doh! Typ-O, third paragraph, end.. Take out the last two words, "of age". 7 to 8 years would be relevant to linear time, not the age of any one dog.

I may just do that might get a little controversy going lol. I was pretty sure what the a stamp was and what the ZW was but I have been known to be mistaken before. Thanks for all of the thoughtful and well worded responses.

Hey Keith,
not quite in theory (and in theory only).
Minimum breeding age for a male is 24 months, for females it is 20 months (minimum age of parents at whelping date 26 months and 22 months respectively).
That means that 25 generations removed could be 54 years ago, which would bring us to 1956. But of course, that is only in theory since it would mean that every single (male)would have had to be used at exactly two years of age. On the mother's line, it would have been sooner because you would deduct two months from that, and after 10 generations, you would have "won" a whole new generation (20 months).
Ok, my lunch break is over now! LOL!

Ok I got some info on this dog his name is Midas vom Chickhoff West German showlines. There are several dogs that do not have an a stamp ;isted in the pedigree.I am not saying he can't do the work but i believe the city could have checked him out a little better. His handler says he is doing an awesome job and is pleased with him. I sure hope he is an asset and not a liability to the city.

If the dog is doing the job and has good hips and elbows and is otherwise healthy, that's all that matters. He shouldn't even really need to have pink papers, or any pedigree at all.
