When there are no interesting threads to me I go back to critiques made by you, Sonora and few others and revise them, read each part while looking at the pictures. Sometimes I make the critique myself first and put it on a paper and then read yours and see what better I could make or what mistakes I made and why (usual reason would be missing an important detail). This approach really made a difference for me. The best thing about your critiques is simplicity yet preciseness, you do not loose the whole picture even when you go into details and I found out also that when I like the dog (the total picture) I can  make a better critique with less or no mistakes, but when I do not like the dog the critique is more difficult, and many times details are confusing, If one part is correct I know it and often know why, but when a part is not correct I know it but not always know why or what would make it correct and here reading other's critiques especially on negatives is so beneficial.
