It must be that no livers were registered in the timeframe that they allowed for allocating these.
I see they have included one that's incorrect. It's not possible to have black, tan and sable. Sable is an all over pattern that already includes tan and black pigments.

easy as that - til it came to the registration department.
I have told both owners that they are non standard colours, not that we want to breed from, and that they can never be bred from in their hands. That of course depends on how diligent I am. The first owner is a very good friend of mine, and just lost her old one from me age 13 - and is bomb-proof, wouldnt dream of having a litter or using him - she thinks we are all mad that breed, and she may be right. POerhaps I will have to think of letting them both go with no paperwork, but I just felt that they could be registered, it proves much more than colour, it proves parentage, and pureness of breed to the pet market.... but its no great hardship to let them both go without paperwork if the KC cant register them clearly as non-standard. Why on earth is Blue not a probem and Brown is........ just plain daft really, Mo.

The choice of OP name is inappropriate and against the TOS. The topic however is very interesting.

I like many others come here hoping to learn something. The piece of article I posted was NOT my words, they are from Fred Lanting.
I hope someone will post a pic or two of the different sables.I believe that I had my one females registered the wrong color years ago. I had her listed as a black and tan, but after learning more, I now believe she was a patterened sable.
I would hope this thread would pull up some more pics of patterened sables. I'm sure I am not the only one that has made that mistake.

if a pup is brown with a black stripe down its back at birth its a sable. it doesn't matter what it looks like as an adult.
all sables are born brown with varying degree's of black covering. you can't confuse a sable puppy(even the darkest ones) with a blk/tan.
