My show line male has the drives and strong temperament, solid nerves of any working line dog - better than some, better than most show lines.  He's a pretty darn cool working dog.  His sire is Geronimo v Olympus (Ursus v Batu) and dam goes to Pit v Tronje.

I was once told, while looking for a female with good working ability to look for Ursus and/or Esko  in the line.

I have my own Ursus son and he did not ever let me down.  Molly has an Ursus grand son out of the still producing Nimo.  Nimo has always had a good reputation and I think when we look back, should have been used much more, just as with my own dog (who is now neutered).  Grab it while you can.

I had a Bravos daughter (Esko) and she was a dog with tremendous drive combined with type and movement that just was one of a kind.  RIP my Diva.

They are still out there, the good ones.

Thank you. Yes, I own Geronimo vom Olympus (.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/124262.html). He is produces typical of the Ursus line, is nearly 9 years old,  and is producing as described by Molly--can produce civil aggression.. His most recent litter (not mine) was born last week.
Geronimo's half-brother, Zeek vom Olympus (www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/124258.html), is past 11, produces much as Geronimo (but more in the mold of Karly Arminius in terms of bype),, and has recent litters currently on the ground which were bred by others.

Both boys produce balanced drives, longevity, constitutional vigor, structural soundness, freedom from reproductive disorders, and excellent hips/elbows.

They, too, have Mutz behind them and are grandsons of my old Alex vom Nord Rasen (www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/124219.html), the first dog I ever schutzhund trained and titled. He was the best dog I ever owned. Take a look at the 7-generation pedigree of Alex: www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/7/124219.html.

Very impressive Louise!  Really nice dogs!

My best dog ever was an Uran grandson, very balanced drives and lots of courage.

Some dogs from the Jeck Noricum bloodline have excellent drives. My now passed away female was one real showline SchH 3. The problem with Jeck, supposedly, was that he also passed on weak ears. Indeed, my female passed on weak ears mated with two dogs who had excellent ears. But for temperament, and working ability and a nice, unexaggerated V structure, she was top notch.

Dingo  v h Gero best producing show dog of all time for working. He produced dogs with great drives but he also gace them good hips but most importantly FIGHT drive that which 99% of dogs today lack. You can have all the prey drive you want but if he has no fight drive what good are they

I have a Larus von batu first generation son and Quirin von Hochmoor first generation  female both neutral now but My male is very courageous and confident with strong Defensive drives very unassuming. My female is a prey drive monster. Both are gettign up in years and I'm looking to possibly get another couple dogs probably my last. I like show line dogs with great balance. I've raised my dogs around my babies since birth despite the ridicule. Who of the current Seiger group is producing well?

One example of of a dog with ties back to Quartz in the US would be VA Ronaldo Zellergrund.  I think there is an Amigo Belgier linebred dog in the US as well, but I cannot recall who.

I am very pleased with the drives, nerves, and overall balance coming from Hill's line. I have seen some very drivey dogs coming from through Dux, as well.

An Ursus line dog with exceptional drive who also produced it was VA Jaguar Mausespitz. I have a very outstanding daughter of his who, at 8 and a half, can still hit like a mack truck.

In my opinion, you cannot go wrong with Mark v h Beck linebreeding for drive and hardness.

We have used both
V SCH3 Geronimo v Olympus and
VSCH3 Zeek v Olympus
for numerous litters with outstanding results in drives and super balanced temperment. Nice uniformity and suitable for many venues of training while keeping an upbeat people engaging type temperd German Shepherd that I care for.

Great drives are in show dogs... and working dogs...do they produce them...some dogs produce and others do not . What I found especially satisfying with the boys above is that it was relevant in litters not just one or two in the litter.

They are also OFA good, elbows and  - DM

Some other nice dogs have also been mentioned...

I have a nice showline male than can work very well. His obedience is very nice and flashy, tracking is good and has awesome protection work. He will bite for real. I just love him.
