Using the BrainTracker grid below, how many words can you find? Each word must contain the central R and no letter can be used twice. The letters do not have to be connected. Proper nouns are not allowed, however, plurals are. There is at least one nine letter word. Excellent: 29 words. Good: 24 words. Average: 16 words. There is one word in which you use all the letters and this one is equal to 5 words in the evaluation.
Add: words must be real and of meaning

OK, in self defense, here's an English major brain teaser. How would you pronouce the following word:

Von Marischal, as an Irish person I think I know the answer to this. Clue George Bernard Shaw?
Won't spoil the answer for others hopefully.

Here's another one from my grandmother (the clue is that it's Irish)......

Form a logical (and not too long) sentence with these words (in this order)

Defeat
Deduct
Defence
Detail

Vommarischal,

If I am correct gh in English was come up with to pronounce frreign letter (no English), like in Arabic we have a person name Ghazi (gh) is for such a letter like sound ighghgh with stress on gh like when you make gharghara with mouth wash.

Grab the feet of the duck on the fence, not the tail.

Vommarischal,

It is pronounced fich or maybe fish ? I forgot how the ti is pronounced but either sh or ch.

by VomMarischal on 20 February 2010 - 20:02

Nope, Ibrahim, not like gargling (which is actually equivalent to the Old English pronunciation), and not the Irish version. Consider the modern pronunciation of the word "enough" while trying to figure it out.

by Ibrahim on 20 February 2010 - 20:02

beertee,

How would I guess that ???

by VomMarischal on 20 February 2010 - 20:02

Oh wait, Ibrahim, now you're getting it! Yes, FISH.

GH as in enough (f)
O as in women (short i)
TI as in nation (sh)
