buzzmommy,

So very sorry for what you went thru.  Try to put it out of your mind by thinking of the good things.  But don't let that vet get away with that!  Make calls, write letters.  I can't believe they even charged you for it after the fact.  This is just so wrong.  When we put our girl down it was exactly as Brandi described it and that is how it should have been for Buzz.  It's hard enough to make that decision but to have it go so wrong and no one there to put an end to it is just cruelty.  I hope you can do what you need to do and get this vet brought before the board and fined.

Again, sooo very sorry your family and Buzz had to go thru this.  It sickens me.

Firstly the vet should remain until he/she can pronounce that the dog is deceased and secondly the euthanasia injection should always be give IV  -----  there is no other way to make it peaceful  -----  sometimes there is agonal gasping and that can be very upsetting for owners but there is nothing to prevent it and no way to know that it will happen but owners should be warned that it may happen.

buzzmommy so sorry for your loss. i had my lab/gsd/husky girl Bandit euthanized 4 years ago due to cancer. i did not want to see her die. i stayed until her eyes fluttered and her head dropped. she knew i was there. she would have cried if i left while she was awake. i let her know i was there and then i ran out before her heart stopped beating. do you believe in the rainbow bridge? if you feel a need to talk to anybody there is a wonderful place called petloss chat. www.petlosschat.com it really helped me through some of my losses.
