Liesjers

Mine was someone insisting I should do all Schutzhund training with NO corrections EVER.  I mean, I don't enjoy correcting my dog, but I personally feel that part of SchH training is training a dog how to work through pressure and frustration, so you aren't doing a dog any favors by tip-toeing around and never putting him up to the challenge of a little mental or physical pressure.

That a female handler cannot work a schutzhund dog.

We were training on NO CATS;  then my dog went and looked at the cat and got kicked in the mouth/face.  My heart went to my toes and I cried all the way home.  I quit a short time after that;  thank goodness I was at a good point to quit.

I have continued his training in So. Calif with another great trainer that LOVES the shepherds and has some of her own.

I worked for a woman (all breed boarding training kennel where I was a kennel hand) that threw bowls at dogs when they wouldn't come and at their cages when they barked.... She also used pinch collars and shock collars on puppies (6-8 weeks) and 4 month old puppies in the heel....

I quit working for her after 2 months....

Amazing how many BS so-called trainers there are in the world, and even more amazing how many devout (blind) followers some of the worst ones have. An old friend (Sheri Trudrung) once told me "If it ain't in your scorebook, you ain't got it."
Somebody ought to make a shirt that says that.

ShelleyStrohl- the trainer I'm refering to is a nationally ranked AKC and UKC obedience competitor.

I can't say I never threw a stainless feed dish at a dog barking recreationally in it kennel.
But a pinch collar on a baby puppy? Not just ridiculous, but stupid.

In that case, then, you might be shocked at triners who routinely slap e-collars on baby puppies 8 weeks old.

She does both, e collars (shock) and pinch. When I saw her do it to a 14 week old Shih-tzu I flipped and left.

Yup. Somebody ought to slap one on the trainer that does that IMO.
