what a tearjerking story.

does anyone have an older puppy that could be a service dog prospect? bet this guy could really use a reason to feel like there is someone good left on this earth!

You are right Sunsilver.

When Dallas and Houston opened their hearts and took in people fleeing Katrina, there was a shocking crime wave.

I read the comments and most of them were pointing out the same PC issues.  One commentor called the thugs "souless" and I think that says it all.

Too bad he wasn't armed.

Just guessing, but they had a magnetic sign on the vehicle and wearing overalls. They have worked in the that house or nearby, I also would guess painters, the overalls. People really need to be careful who they let into their home to do work. You need to be aware, alot of big companies contract work out.
RIP Mater.......

How sad that a dog that age is still, obviously, able to still work and have such a sad, horrible end.  Just not fair, I hope they enough information to make these criminals pay.  RIP Major, you're the epitome of a true friend and hero, run at the bridge.

I hope the dog got in a good bite, and they were able to harvest DNA from his teeth...

Hey Sunsilver you are right about that other post of the GSD making the right choice if the person said to go and it wasn't clear to. GSDs think.I have seen it in my own of things I didn't teach them but they contiplate how the best way up a canyon is or  how to get through something. Don't get me wrong the other breeds are smart as I have trained a few of them and trained  service dogs. There is just something to be said about a stable GSD that has the social skills and  is able to sence trouble.I believe that is was Crys dog that is blind but alerted her to a suspicious man but then was find with some boys that she saw. So GSDs are a good service dog jmo. Hope they get a dog donated. They are very expencive.

Sunsilver, hope you are right.

DNA in heroic Major's teeth-now that would be something!  I sure hope he got in a good bite and had flesh in between his teeth and blood in his fur.  Hopefully, from both of them.

So, even after he died, he would still be a hero witness.

This is why I ignore the service dog training agency in my hometown, and give my contributions to Fidelco, the last guide dog agency that uses the German Shepherd exclusively.

I do too.  I also give to Dogs for the Deaf.
